Chapter 35
“Here,” she said "You'll carry these to the tournament grounds. I expect you to be at my side the entire time. And don't think for a second that you'll get a break."
I looked at the bags in horror. Surely, she was joking. There was no way I could carry these bags all the way there. I struggled to lift them, feeling the strain in my arms and shoulders as I adjusted their weight. Without another word, I nodded and began carrying them. Gina didn't seem to care that I was visibly struggling. In fact, I'm sure she enjoyed it.
We left her room and made our way downstairs. Gina got inside a car waiting for her.
"Walk to the grounds" she said "I'm sure you could use the exercise"
I watched in disbelief as she got in and the car moved past me. I sighed, preparing myself for the long trip.
I started walking to the grounds. Carrying the bags, I could feel sweat trickling down my back. The heavy bags caused me to walk slowly. The sun was hot and I was already exhausted. I gritted my teeth and kept moving.
The journey felt like it would take forever. My clothes grew soaked with sweat, and the bags seemed to grow heavier with every step.
Finally, after what seemed like hours, I arrived at the tournament grounds. The grounds were filled with shouts of the pack members. In the middle of the grounds, warriors were engaged in intense fighting competitions.
In a special elevated area, members of the royal family were seated, watching the events. My parents were seated there. Gina sat next to Jackson.
I walked up to them and dropped the bags.
"Good day, mother" I said "Father"
They pretended like I didn't exist. They looked ahead, like I wasn't there. I sighed, feeling my heart break again.
I stood beuind Gina.
"Ah, sister" she said with a mocking tone. "Just in time. I see you're getting quite the workout. You need it. You were getting too fat anyways."
I stood silently behind her. My whole body ached. I just wanted to lie down. The sounds of people's shouts filled the air as they chanted and cheered for their favourite warrior.noveldrama
Suddenly, a small movement spread through the crowd. I glanced up to see Ferris making his entrance. As soon as he came down from his convoy of cars, the whole
vern
tournament went quiet. Even the warriors stopped fighting Everyone stood still, bowing their heads as Ferris walked by.
When he got to our elevated area, Jackson, Gina and even my parents stood up and bowed their heads.
bowed my head in shame. I was
aware of how bad I looked. My clothes were dirty, and my hair was plastered to my forehead with
sweat. I didn't want Ferris to see me like this, but there was nothing I could do. I kept my gaze fixed on the ground, hoping he wouldn't notice me. It was hard to do so when all I wanted to do was run into his arms.
Ferris took his seat. His presence alone commanded respect. When he was comfortably seated, the
tournament continued. From then eto
corner of my eye, I noticed that his gaze lingered on me for a moment. I quickly looked away with my cheeks burning with embarrassment.
The clashes of steel, fists and the roar of the crowd shook the grounds. After
hours, the tournament was finally closing and coming to an end.
Just then, Gina stood up "Its not over yet. I wish to show my skills to everyone"
Everyone looked at her in surprise. Hushed whispers filled the crowd.
"The Luna wants to fight?" people whispered amongst themselves.
Even I was surprised. But it's Gina we're talking about. She'll do anything for attention.
"That's impressive, my dear" my mom said with a smile. My father nodded in agreement.
"And who would you like to challenge, my love?" Jackson asked her.
Gina turned to me with an evil smile "Elise"
What do you think?
