Secrets Of The Neglected Wife

Chapter 741

Chapter 741:

“Alice,” Jareth cut in, urging her to stop.

“Last night was just an accident. And don’t worry, the key won’t be forgotten. You’re safe,” he reassured her. His message was clear enough.

Allison almost guessed that the key to the defense system was tied to Verruckt’s fingerprint. To take Lilian, she’d need to get his fingerprint.

“Alright.” Allison nodded, not pressing further. “I’ll get back to sorting through the documents on my desk, right?”

“Yes, sort them by color,” Jareth replied, already feeling a headache coming on. Searching through discarded papers took far more effort than sorting through the useful ones.

“Alright, I’ll get back to work now.”

Allison opened the door and stepped into the office, only to find Verruckt staring at her.

She blinked and asked, “Mr. Shaw, am I interrupting you?”

He didn’t reply. Instead, he tossed something in her direction.

Allison caught it and saw that it was a set of house keys.

“Those are the keys to a house I don’t use much,” Verruckt said, his face emotionless. “Consider it a small token for your help last night.”noveldrama

“Thank you, Mr. Shaw. You’re incredibly generous,” Allison said warmly as she accepted the keys, a grateful smile on her face. In truth, her thoughts were elsewhere, wondering how to discreetly obtain the fingerprint key for the security system.

“Mr. Shaw, since you’ve been so kind to give me such a nice place to stay, how about I repay you with a meal?” she offered, trying to sound casual.

Verruckt raised an eyebrow and smirked. “Oh? Do you even have the money for that?”

Allison hesitated. “Well… No.”

“But,” she added quickly, “although I can’t afford to take you to a fancy restaurant, I’m actually a pretty decent cook. If you don’t mind, I could make something myself…”

Her voice trailed off when she noticed Verruckt’s indifferent expression. He didn’t seem particularly interested, and Allison, sensing it wasn’t going anywhere, stopped pushing the idea.

Turning her attention back to her cluttered desk, she began tidying up the pile of discarded documents, a task she had grown accustomed to. All the while, her mind was racing, strategizing her next move.

To her surprise, Verruckt, seemingly in a rare good mood, said, “I’m free at seven tonight. I’ll swing by the house to pick up a few things.”
