Joanna smiled. “May I take the food to go?”
Millie stared at Joanna, wondering what she was up to.
Joanna glared at her with a burning desire for revenge. She couldn’t forget how Millie had made her purchase an excessive amount of drinks at the bar.
“Dr. Lowell, you may order whatever you want to eat. I’m fine with it,” Millie replied earnestly.
Their colleagues glanced at the pair, sensing the tension in the air.
Joanna summoned the waiter and asked, “What is the most expensive dish on the menu?”
“Ms. Lowell, five exquisite lobsters have just arrived from Arbalia today. Their average price is about two thousand dollars each,” replied the waiter.
The others were shocked upon hearing the price. It cost two thousand dollars per lobster. Clearly, they were not eating lobsters but money.
“We want them all.” Joanna smiled.
The waiter was stunned and wondered whether she was truly ordering all the lobsters.
Joanna tilted her head, took a sip of water, and asked, “Why? Are you unwilling to pay, Dr. Caldwell?”
The Caldwell family made a huge impression at the hospital today. The Cardiac Surgery Department became the department with the highest happiness index, and everyone wanted to be a part of it.
It would be funny if Millie said she wanted to treat everyone to dinner tonight but then didn’t want to pay. All eyes were on her, and no one dared to speak. It was obvious that Joanna had some issues Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.
with her.
“Sure.” Millie smiled. It was just a few lobsters.
“This exquisite lobster tastes really delicious. Dr. Lowell is extremely thoughtful. How careless of me for not thinking of that! Please don’t mind my blunder.”
Millie smiled and nodded at the waiter, ordering, “Please assist us in preparing the lobsters in several different ways so that everyone can enjoy a variety of flavors.”
“Yes, Ms. Caldwell.” The waiter nodded immediately
Everyone’s eyes were brimming with admiration. Millie’s response showed how incredibly emotionally intelligent she was. She was far from being stingy and offered Joanna a way out.
Joanna’s expression immediately turned frigid. She tightly clenched the glass in her hand, seething with anger.
Suddenly, her phone rang. She glanced at the caller ID and couldn’t help but smile. With a press of the answer button, she picked up the phone and uttered softly, “Win.”
Millie paused drinking her water when she heard Joanna’s words before resuming silently.
“I’m currently at a Jiican restaurant across the hospital, room 3022. I’m attending a departmental gathering. Alright, I’ll wait for you.” Then, Joanna hung up.
The waiter began serving the dishes, all of which were seafood. The presentation was exquisite, making them look absolutely mouthwatering.
Millie pointed outside and said, “I’m heading to the restroom.”
Everyone responded to acknowledge her.
Millie walked out of the private room and sighed. Being with Joanna was always too tense. She made her way to the cashier and rapped on the marble countertop.
“Hi, I would like to pay the bill for room 3022.”
Millie was momentarily taken aback because she wasn’t the one who said that. She shifted her gaze and locked eyes with Winston, who met hers with an emotionless expression.
He lowered his gaze at Millie, wondering why she was there.
The cashier kindly said, “Sir, the total bill for room 3022 is 17 thousand dollars.”
Winston was taken aback by the astonishing bill for the Jiican cuisine.
Millie pursed her lips and took Winston’s card away, stating firmly, “I’ll pay.”
“Are you and Joanna working in the same department?” Winston was surprised.
“Yes. I’m sitting right across from your unforgettable first love,” Millie said calmly as she handed over a credit card.
Just before the waiter could grab it, a slender and delicate hand gracefully snatched Millie’s card.
Winston’s voice softened slightly as he said, “I’ll pay for it.”
Millie gazed at him intently, her curiosity piqued by his unexpected display of tenderness. She explained, “It’s my first day at work, and I’d like to treat the department to a dinner. You don’t need to pay for the bill.”
He insisted on paying using his credit card before explaining, “Please, don’t overthink it. It’s not for you. Joanna is upset with me because of my past issues with you. I’m just trying to make amends.”
