Chapter 1040
Chapter 1040:
Dalores managed a strained smile and replied, “I don’t want to go. I’d rather stay with Emerson.”noveldrama
“There is a caregiver here to watch over him. Let’s go downstairs; we’ll return shortly,” Eileen insisted, remembering the doctor’s recommendation that staying cooped up in the room all day wasn’t beneficial for Dalores’ mental health.
Without Eileen’s presence, no one else would have been able to sway Dalores.
Eventually, Dalores agreed to go downstairs with Eileen. Sitting on a park bench, she stared at the overcast sky with a look of deep contemplation. Her thoughts were a mystery to everyone around her.
“I’ll be heading back to Onaland in a few days. Will you keep treating Emerson here, or will you go back to Onaland once his condition improves?” Eileen leaned against a large tree, studying Dalores’ expression closely.
Dalores swiftly turned to face Eileen. “Will Julio be going back to Onaland?”
Eileen paused for a moment, then shook her head. “I’m not sure. But if you really want to find out about that, I can ask him for you.”
Dalores frowned and remained silent for a few seconds before finally shaking her head. “Never mind. He doesn’t want to see me anyway. Whether he leaves or stays, it’s all the same.”
Doesn’t matter. I’ll stay here at the hospital, waiting to find a suitable marrow donor for Emerson.”
“So, you’re giving up on the idea of having another baby to save Emerson?” Eileen asked.

“What choice do I have but to give up? Julio refuses to see me. I’ll be okay as long as Emerson is with me. If he dies, I’ll go with him. We’ll never be apart,” Dalores murmured as she curled up on the bench, hugging her knees.
Eileen felt a surge of panic upon hearing this. The medication might calm Dalores temporarily, but it wouldn’t solve the real issues.
If she couldn’t shift Dalores’ extreme mindset, Dalores’ mental health issues would remain.
Just as Eileen stood up and began to approach Dalores, she was suddenly startled by Jaliyah’s unexpected appearance. Out of breath, Jaliyah said, “Eileen, I need to talk to you. Let’s grab lunch together.”
“What? You want me to have lunch with you?” Eileen asked, confused. “I don’t have the time for that.”
Jaliyah fixed her gaze on Dalores. “Eileen’s got important things to handle. Are you really that clueless to expect her to drop everything for lunch with you?”
Dalores jumped to her feet. “Eileen, go ahead and take care of your business. I’m alright. You don’t need to visit me every single day.”
“No, I…” Eileen started to say something, but Dalores had already turned and was briskly walking back into the inpatient building.
“Well, she’s already left. You’ve got free time now, so let’s grab some lunch.” Jaliyah practically dragged Eileen out of the hospital and into a nearby restaurant. She then ordered something.
Jaliyah had offered to treat Eileen, but she didn’t even let Eileen glance at the menu. She simply ordered all of her favorites.
