Chapter 390
Chapter 390:
The words she had whispered to Trenton earlier were not only ignored, but there was also a chance he could relay them to Eileen.
Zola wasn’t concerned about Eileen finding out; she was more focused on seizing another opportunity to undermine her.
The room was brightly lit, and the admiration for Eileen was unmistakable—perhaps even to the blind!
After a few moments of group chatter, Trenton turned and began speaking quietly to Eileen.
“Are you and Ms. Murray not seeing eye to eye?”
Eileen quickly understood what Zola had been up to. “It’s just business. We’re all competitors here. It doesn’t matter if I see eye to eye with her.”
Trenton laughed, patting his knee. “True enough, but if it weren’t for me today, I guess you really would’ve had a hard time.”
In the business world, a woman had to either be strong enough to command respect or willing to swallow her pride and accept losses.
Eileen knew exactly what kind of losses she might have to endure.
She was about to respond when a cold liquid suddenly spilled onto her trousers.
Without looking to see who it was, Zola had already turned to fetch a tissue.
“I’m so sorry, Ms. Curtis. It was an accident. I just came over to toast you and didn’t expect this to happen. Please don’t be upset.”
“Ms. Murray, let me handle it.” Raymond quickly stepped in. He didn’t take the tissue from Zola but instead grabbed two fresh ones and handed them to Eileen.
Eileen began cleaning her trousers, uncertain what kind of juice Zola had spilled.
It was now dripping from her trousers onto her feet, leaving a sticky sensation.noveldrama
“Ms. Curtis, there are spare shoes in the car. I’ll get them for you and find a room where you can change.”
Raymond took out his phone, tapped a few times, and had already rebooked a room.
Though it was just to change shoes, with so many men present, it would be impolite not to excuse herself.
“Please excuse me for a moment.”
Eileen stood up and left the room, closely followed by Raymond, who muttered softly, “She did that on purpose. I saw her trip herself.”
Eileen responded coolly, “I know. She probably wants to cozy up to Trenton while I’m gone.”
It was such a lame trick.
Raymond pointed to a room at the end of the corridor. “That’s the room I just booked. You can rest there for a while. I’ll go get your shoes.”
