Are the triplets my cousins?
Rafael:
With the first lights that are visible before sunrise, my jet begins its landing on the runway of Hacienda Los Rincones. Sofia, a little apprehensive, but uneasy, came down the stairs, next to me and closer to me.
-How do you feel? -I asked when I noticed that she was trembling. I approached her, took her hand and hugged her to calm her down and make her feel more secure.
-I have a scare, I feel strange, I don’t remember anything, my mind is blank and no matter how much I want to remember I can’t,” she said sadly and let some tears flow.
-Now, my love! -I encouraged her, trying to make her control the strong trembling she felt in her body, like tears, “Let’s go to meet your mother and your children, who are waiting for you at the hacienda!
-Let’s go! -she answered, taking my hand, letting herself be led calmly to my other truck, where the driver was waiting for us.
I had the illusion that when I saw Estefania or the triplets, I would recover her memory. When we arrived at the hacienda’s parking lot, she looked around like the first time she had been there and asked me….
-Why don’t I remember it? I don’t even feel familiar? -she asked, before getting out of the truck.
-Because your house until now, has been in Paradise Island,” I clarified, “This is where I live and it is one of the houses, where I will bring you, once we get married,” I assured.
-Paradise Island? That name makes noise to me, I feel I have heard it before -she affirmed- How old are my children? -she asked.
-Three, about to turn four,” I answered, entering the house, holding her hand, without seeing anyone in the living room. Everyone was waiting for us in the living room, where, by the way, the laughter of my nephews and my children could be heard.
“I hope I wasn’t wrong to confront Sofia like that with her people,” I thought snorting loudly.
As the sliding doors to the living room slid open, everyone turned their faces to where we were. Estefania, in a split second went from a state of distrust, to one of immense happiness, as she recognized Sofia with her new look.
-Daughter, daughter! -she shouted excitedly, releasing the cutlery she had in her hand with which she was forcing her grandson Rafael Enrique to eat. Sheyli, upon recognizing her, let her eyes overflow with tears and ran to her as did Estefania.
-Sofia, little sister! -she shouted.
-Mommy?
-Mommy?
-Mommy?
the triplets questioned and shouted, bewildered, not recognizing their mother. Evidently, this bob cut she is sporting, which in spite of everything highlights even more her beautiful and fine features, makes her look very different.
Sofia, standing next to me at the entrance to the salon, did not recognize anyone and did not utter a word. She let herself be hugged and kissed, but she looked as bewildered as her children. The triplets got down from their seats and walked towards me.
-Rafael? She doesn’t look like our mother,” said Rafael Angel, fearfully.
-Yes, she is mommy! -Estefania pointed out, having heard her grandson’s comment, “Look at her eyes, her features. It’s her mommy! -she shouted, hugging her daughter again without letting go and letting her tears run down her face.
-Sis, don’t you remember me either? -Sheyli asked, crying, feeling sad to see that she didn’t recognize her and Estefania either. “You can’t imagine how happy I am to see you, it’s as if you were born again.
-Are you my sister? -she asked.
-Well! Biologically no, we are friends,” she clarified, “I’m Sheyli.
-Sheyli! -Sheyli!” she said, putting her hands to her head and asking, “there’s another one missing, isn’t there?
-Yes, Shayla my twin is missing,” she assured, smiling to discover that she had remembered something about them. Attentive to this, I gave answers to the questions of our children?
-What your grandmother says is true, she is your mom, she just changed her look,” I assured calmly to my children, who I encouraged to approach her, “Sheyli, I totally share your opinion, my Sofia has been born again,” I exclaimed.
-Rafael, what’s going on, why isn’t Sofia saying anything? What happened to my daughter? -cried Estefania, coming closer to me, when she saw that I didn’t say a word.
-Let’s go into the living room! -I invited, taking Sofia by the hand, who looked very upset, probably because she didn’t recognize anyone.
With this I became more worried, since I checked the doctor’s diagnosis, she suffers from amnesia. Although she recognized Estefania’s name as her mother’s, she was unable to identify her mother when she had her in front of her, and the same seems to happen with Sheyli.
As everyone sat down in the room, I gave a very brief explanation of what was happening to Sofia, mainly so as not to affect the children. They approached her, one by one. She responded to their kisses, hugs and began to cry, without saying a word.
-What’s wrong, Sofia? -I asked, sitting on the arm of the armchair where she was sitting.
-I don’t recognize any of them! -She said, letting out her tears, so I hugged her and her mother did the same on the other side.
-My love, don’t despair! Remember that the doctor who found you told us that it was temporary,” I affirmed hugging her, to comfort her.
“And he even told me that you had begun to recover part of your memory, because before leaving the hospital, you remembered your name: Sofia.
“Then, when I mentioned Estefania’s name, you yourself mentioned that she was your mother.
-Together we will take care of you and help you recover your memory,” her mother assured her.
She, unconsciously or consciously, hugged me tightly, at these words of her mother, which made me look her in the eyes and give her a smile.
I called her children one by one and introduced them to her again. All three of them, after hugging her, clung to my legs, letting their tears flow. With this, I felt so bad that I took them to the stable with my nephews.
Once there, I had a conversation with them….Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org
-You must be patient with your mother, because she had an unfortunate accident and lost her memory, what does that mean? That she doesn’t remember anything or anyone,” I explained in the simplest possible way.
-Uncle, like my Russian grandfather? -asked Sasha.
-Something like that, Sasha! Your granddaddy is because of a disease, which mainly affects grandfathers, because of their age and they forget everything,” I explained.
“On the other hand, your cousins’ mom got hit by a blow, an accident, and she hit her head very hard,” I concluded.
-Uncle, are the triplets my little cousins? -Andrei asked…
