Swept Into a Fairytale Marriage 73
Chapter 73 Each With Their Own Agendal
“Walter Douglas? Where’s he from?” Adrian stood by the window with one hand in his pocket, gazing into the deep night. “Where is he now?”
Simon’s illness had given Adrian a glimmer of hope. If he could find the right person, a traditional medicine practitioner might be more skilled than hospital specialists.
“He’s gone traveling. He’s from Ronson City, but currently, no one knows his whereabouts. It’s said he won’t return for at least ten years…”
The light in Adrian’s eyes gradually faded as he thought, “If no one knows Walter’s whereabouts, what about Farrah?”
“Mr. Locke, this man has no apprentices. Unfortunately, there’s no way to find him at the moment.”
As the call ended, Adrian thought of Farrah. She had once told him that Mark’s mother had been gravely ill, and her mentor had cured her when all other doctors failed. So, there was a chance that Farrah was actually Walter’s apprentice.
If so, it would be puzzling why the investigation showed he had no apprentices. Unless, of course, Farrah was lying Yet, if she were lying, how could he explain her relationship with Mark?
As Adrian contemplated the situation, Farrah knocked on the open door and called out, “Adrian.”
Adrian snapped back to reality and turned to look at her, noticing she was holding a box. Then, she said, “I need your help with something.”
“I actually have something to discuss with you too,” Adrian replied.
Farrah approached him, feeling nervous under his intimidating presence. “What did you want to talk about?”
Adrian studied her and sensed she was troubled. He tried to soften his demeanor as he moved toward his desk. “You go first.” Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.
Seeing his gentler tone, Farrah said directly, “Steven caused trouble for my mom again today. I helped her and Mason rent a new place. I used your card to pay six months‘ rent, about 8,000 dollars.”
Adrian recalled the expense notification, but he did not interrupt her. Instead, he looked at her, wondering what else she needed help with. Meeting his gaze, Farrah returned the necklace box to him.
“I was hoping you could help Mason transfer to a better school. Consider it… a favor in return for my help. Here’s the necklace back.” She used a pleading tone, aware that Adrian was busy and had no obligation to deal with her problems.
Adrian was surprised to hear her request. To him, it was a small matter. He glanced at the necklace box she had returned before studying her again, noting her hervousness and unease. However, this only made Farrah more anxious. She was worried that he would refuse and silently prayed for his mercy.
“Keep the necklace,” Adrian said softly, catching her off guard. “Which school do you have in mind for him? Have you considered any?”
Farrah was stunned. He had agreed without hesitation and even pushed the necklace box back toward her. With this issue resolved, her mood brightened instantly. She could not help but smile as she replied, ” On Mason’s behalf, thank you!”
She took the necklace back and thanked him, genuinely grateful. Adrian stared at her as she stood in the bright light. Her beauty resembled a lily blooming in the dead of night, giving off a senes

“When will you start developing the medicine for me?” he asked softly. “To treat the burn marks on my
arm.”
This also surprised Farrah. After all, he had been resistant before despite her begging him to use her medicine and to trust her. Yet, he was suddenly taking the initiative.
Meeting his serious gaze, Farrah was momentarily lost in thought. Nonetheless, she was overwhelmed with excitement and immediately replied, “Very soon! I’m already working on the first stage of the medicine.”
Adrian nodded. “Good. I’ll be waiting.
His willingness to trust her made her happy. It was also a way to bring them closer together. Although there was no love and he would not fall in love with her, Farrah wanted to make their partnership work. Adrian, on the other hand, wanted to test her medical skills. If she could really cure the old burn marks on his arm, it would prove she was Walter’s apprentice. This way, there might be hope for curing Simon.

Adrian thought his relationship with Sheila might improve if Simon’s illness could be cured. After all, everyone longed for their mother’s love.
“Get some rest. It’s the weekend, so don’t work too late. Your health comes first,” Farrah advised before turning to leave.
Adrian watched her retreating figure and suddenly said, “There’s a banquet tomorrow night.”
Farrah stopped and turned, their eyes meeting. Then, he continued, ‘It’s to welcome Mr. Lovelace and celebrate our partnership. You should come too.”
Farrah was a bit surprised but nodded with a smile. “Sure, I’d love to.”
“Would you like to be my dance partner?” Adrian asked from where he was sitting at his desk, his eyes looking at her warmly.
Farrah shuddered in fear. “No! I–I’d like to keep some distance from you in public for now.” She could not handle the stress of being Adrian’s wife.
“As you wish,” he respected her decision without further comment.
Farrah glanced at him once more before leaving. After that, Adrian stared at the empty doorway. wondering why he had asked that last question. It was hot as if he could not find a dance partner. It seemed he had mistaken her for Sierra again, and he pondered whether he was actually seeking emotional solace in Farrah. Regardless, thoughts of Sierra always left Adrian feeling inexplicably Even with all his success, the one he could not have always seemed the best.

It was just an obsession, really. Once married, Adrian would probably realize it was not all it was cracked up to be. After all, flaws or imperfections would become apparent then, and he would learn that no one was perfect.
That night, Farrah soaked in the bathtub. In the steamy bathroom under the warm light, she could not help but recall last night’s events. His passionate kisses were so deep and tender, yet he had been calling out another woman’s name.
Somehow, her heart ached a little every time she remembered this detail. As his wife, Farrah felt a twinge of discomfort. However, she would never admit she had fallen for him.
That night, they lay in the same bed again, passing the night peacefully. Perhaps they both had a lot on their minds… Maybe they were even feeling uncertain about the future.
The next evening, luxury cars lined up outside a mansion. Inside, the lights gleamed brilliantly, making it look like a glowing palace. The yard was decorated lavishly and warmly.
Impeccably dressed servers moved about, tending to every guest. Not only that, but the outdoor pool in front of the mansion sparkled, its water crystal clear.
The invited attendees included project managers, company executives, Adrian and Farrah, as well as Germaine and Corey. Other partners from Prestige Group and respected CEOS in the industry were also
present.
Naturally, Mark, known as a heavyweight in the financial world, was the center of everyone’s anticipation. Guests mingled in groups, exchanging pleasantries and clinking glasses while chatting away, embodying elegance and sophistication. Meanwhile, live classical folk music filled the air, providing a soothing and

As the evening progressed, Michelin–star chefs presented exquisite dishes, bringing them out one by one for the guests to savor.
Every attention to detail showed just how much Adrian valued Mark and this partnership. As evening fell, the sky burned with purple and red hues, its beautiful glow generously illuminating everything. The gentle breeze also provided a comforting ambiance for the night.
Soon, a Lamborghini pulled up in the mansion’s driveway. Kenneth opened the door, and Adrian, tall and imposing, stepped out. He stood straight and proud, wearing a custom–tailored Armani suit that perfectly accentuated his lean, athletic build.
The moment he appeared, he became the center of attention at the gala.
“Mr. Locke has arrived!”
