Chapter 232
Linda was feeling quite down.
However, with both her mom and dad dropping her off at preschool, her spirits were soon lifted.noveldrama
Harvey drove the car himself.
In the backseat, Eloise gently fastened the safety belt around Linda, and her hand was inadvertently brushing the little girl's head. It was as if her gaze was glued to their daughter.
Linda was exceptionally proud. According to her, she was the kind of baby that everyone loved at first sight.
On the way, she pointed out with her little chubby fingers, talking about her friends at the kindergarten. Her favorite friend was Luca!
Eloise listened attentively. As a first-time mom, she was completely smitten by their daughter, unintentionally neglecting her ex-husband.
With his wife and daughter in the car, Harvey concentrated on driving. Only at red lights would he glance at Eloise in the rear-view mirror.
Today, she had her hair tied up in a loose bun. Her side profile was gentle and beautiful when she looked down. Coupled with her delicate neck, she looked particularly captivating.
Harvey watched her intently. When Eloise happened to look up and catch his gaze in the rear-view mirror, she could see the look of a man admiring a woman. Her face turned somewhat red, and she was slightly irritated. Harvey offered a soft chuckle, carrying a hint of lust.
The light turned green, and he gently pressed the accelerator. Half an hour later, they arrived at a high-end private kindergarten.
Harvey got out of the car, walked around, and opened the back door. His gaze fell on Eloise, filled with tenderness.
Eloise ignored his presence, unbuckled Linda's seatbelt, and lifted her out of the
car.
Linda was particularly lively today. She held Eloise's hand and walked to her class line. Eloise watched her little one and waved, and Linda raised her little face and said, "This is my mom!"
She wasn't afraid of anyone doubting her. After all, her mom also had brown hair. Let them be jealous!
The kids around were indeed quite envious. Linda's mom was so pretty!
Her teacher, Ms. Alexia, came over and took Linda's hand. Linda couldn't resist but repeated, "Ms. Alexia, this is my mom!"
Ms. Alexia, who was in her forties, was very loving. She knew children's minds well, so she gently patted Linda's head and said, "Your mom is very beautiful!"
Linda's vanity was satisfied. She decided to eat two bowls of cereal for breakfast today!
Being a parent for the first time, Eloise took it very seriously. She politely discussed Linda's case with Ms. Alexia. She didn't even notice when Harvey walked up to them, let alone his hand resting on her waist.
Ms. Alexia was quite surprised. The records showed that Linda's parents were divorced, but they seemed very affectionate now.
Harvey chuckled. "Linda's mom was working abroad previously. From now on, you can discuss Linda's situation with her. Her number is..."
Eloise was taken aback.
Ms. Alexia quickly noted down the number. Mr. Horigan was a major donor of this private kindergarten. If he said Eloise was working abroad, then she was!
Linda, holding Ms. Alexia's hand, proudly said, "My mom's name is Eloise!"
Ms. Alexia lovingly patted her head.
Eloise, not wanting to disrupt the order, quickly waved goodbye to Linda. Linda, with her backpack swaying, had the happiest day in kindergarten.
Eloise stood for quite a while.
Harvey chuckled. "Get in the car. I'll give you a ride!"
Eloise also wanted to talk to him, so she opened the car door without a word. The car door closed.
Harvey's gaze was somewhat intense. "Sit in the front. It's easier to talk." He had already opened the passenger door.
Eloise didn't want to argue over such a small matter, so she got in the car and sat down.
Soon, Harvey joined her in the front seat. Harvey's gaze briefly swept over her long legs. His voice was slightly husky. "Where to?"
Eloise softly replied, "To the General Hospital!"
Harvey gently pressed the accelerator and after driving for a while, he casually asked, "Shall I accompany you to visit your mom?"
After a while, Eloise softly said, "Harvey, I think we should establish a new relationship!"
He knew what she meant, didn't he? Harvey didn't say anything. When they reached a red light, he took out a cigarette from the glove box, lit it, took a puff, and slowly exhaled a ring of smoke. Only then did he turn to look at her. "What kind of new relationship, let's hear it!"
Eloise looked at him. "We co-parent Linda, but don't interfere with each other's private lives."
Harvey flicked the ash off his cigarette outside the car window. Then, he chuckled. "Why... Have you taken a fancy to that guy Diego? He's not bad looking!"
Eloise was somewhat annoyed. "Harvey, that's not what I mean!"
"So what do you mean? Your meaning is, we are free to interact, date, and sleep with others!"
Eloise didn't want to deal with him anymore. She turned her face away, not saying a word.
Over the past three years, Harvey's temper had greatly improved. If this were in the past, he would certainly have been jealous and done something if she went on
a date. But now, things were different. They were divorced.
Indeed, as Eloise said, they shouldn't be meddling in each other's lives. But he still loved her!
Harvey's tone softened a bit. "Alright! I'll cooperate!"
Eloise was quite surprised. She had already told her uncle that there was no possibility between her and Diego, but Harvey's words were unreasonable. So, dating, falling in love, and sleeping with someone was what "private life" meant?
He gave in first, and Eloise didn't want to make their relationship too tense. After all, they were co-parenting Linda. She softly said, "In a few days, I want to take Linda to stay with me for a few days!"
Harvey snuffed out his cigarette and chuckled lightly. "Of course! You're Linda's mother. You can take her for as long as you want, but due to her special condition, it's best not to leave Peterborough!"
Eloise gave a soft nod.
Harvey drove into the hospital parking lot, parking his car swiftly. He then turned to Eloise. "Hand me your phone," he demanded.
Eloise was slightly taken aback but handed over her phone nonetheless. Harvey
lit a cigarette, clenching it between his lips as he began to input several phone numbers into her phone, cross referencing with his own.
Dr. Weisman in the lab, the ER doctors, the psychiatrist, the blood bank manager, the kindergarten teacher and the principal.
After he finished, he handed her phone back. Eloise looked lost as she stared at her phone.
"Listen, Eloise," Harvey began, his voice barely above a whisper. "I haven't had a personal life in the past three years! Even the time I spend thinking about you is limited. Often, I'd be missing you in the dead of night when a call would come in, and I'd have to get dressed and rush back to the lab because Linda... Linda was there..."
What do you think?
