Chapter 750 Who Exactly Is That Man
Avery was laying inside a luxury suite of a hotel.
The drug coursing through Avery's body was controlling her thoughts to the point where she couldn't even think. Her mind was foggy, and she had no idea what day it was, let alone who the man having sex with her was.
Her internal heat and dryness were almost driving her to madness.
She could only slightly alleviate her discomfort by pressing herself against him.
As the night grew darker, the sex between the two became ever more intense.
It wasn't until dawn that the effects of the drug gradually wore off within Avery's body. Overwhelmed by extreme fatigue, she drifted into a deep sleep.
The next day, when Avery woke up in the hotel room, it was already nearing noon.
Just as she woke up, a tearing pain surged between her legs, so intense that she almost let out a stifled cry.
The pain also caused a strong surge of shock to ripple through Avery's heart.
The images of her having sex with a strange man last night suddenly started replaying in her mind, frame by frame.
In an instant, Avery screamed like a madwoman, her heart aching.
At that moment, she remembered everything.
Last night, she attended Fuller Group's banquet with Cayden. At some point, she seemed to have visited the restroom. However, when she came out, her body was unbearably hot, as if she had been drugged. No matter how much she tried to cool down with cold water, it was to no avail. In fact, the more she came into contact with cold water, the hotter she felt.
After that, she was led away by a stranger.
The unfamiliar man, whose face she couldn't recall, tormented her throughout the night.
Tried as she might, but she couldn't figure out who the man was.
Avery couldn't recall a thing. However, the thought of herself in a strange room, having been intimate with an unknown man, made her heartache to the point of trembling.
The guilt of infidelity, coupled with self-loathing, quickly overwhelmed her.
She was the wife of Cayden, the mother of three children, yet the most detestable thing in her life has happened.
She was drugged and taken advantage of.
Even though she didn't do it on purpose, the undeniable fact remained that she spent the entire night
with another man.
She couldn't bear to imagine what would happen if Cayden and the children found out about that and how much they would despise her.
The room's decor was extremely luxurious.
Used tissues were scattered around on the floor.
Her throbbing pain still remained.
Scene after scene flashed before Avery's eyes, each one reminding her of the terrifying fact that she had slept with a stranger.
Avery saw her formal attire in the corner of the room by the bed, nearly torn into ragged strips.
On the bedside table in the room, there was a set of brand-new clothes.
She closed her eyes in pain, weakly dressing herself. Surprisingly, the clothes fit her perfectly.
However, she had no time to ponder the reasons. Without even washing her face, she dashed straight into the reception area on the first floor.
The reception desk was managed by two youthful and attractive women.
Upon seeing Avery's unkempt appearance, they remained composed. With a sweet voice, one of them asked her, “Esteemed guest, what services may we assist you with?”
Avery clenched her fists tightly, her voice trembling as she said, “I am the guest from room 1608. I want to ask, who brought me to this room last night? I drank too much last night and can't remember much. Could you help me find out?”
The country had instated explicit regulations stating that one must present an ID card when checking into a hotel. She wanted to know the identity of that unfamiliar man.
The two receptionists exchanged a glance. One of them quickly typed the room number into the computer to check the guest registration information. However, the registration only showed the name “Avery,” with no other guests listed.
The receptionist replied politely, “I'm sorry, Ms. Rumpley, but according to last night's room registration, only your name was listed. It indicates that you were the only one who checked in, with no other guests. Could it be that you might have remembered it incorrectly?”
Avery broke down a little and screamed, “Impossible! There was clearly another person here last night. How come there was only me? I think you guys are the ones who got it wrong!”
The receptionist left with no other choice, printed out the information displayed on the computer, and handed it smoothly to Avery. “Ms. Rumpley, if you have any doubts, you can check the details of your check-in from last night,” she said.
Avery directly snatched it from her hands.
Then, she saw the information for room 1608 indeed showed that she was the only one who stayed
there last night.
That fact almost drove her to the brink of collapse!
If only that were the case. However, the physical evidence on her body and in the room served as a stark reminder of the horrifying situation that no woman would ever wish to face.
She didn't know who the other party was, yet they knew her ID card number well enough to book a room in her name. Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.
As such, she wondered if the man was Cayden.
With a glimmer of hope in her heart, she borrowed the phone from the front desk. Filled with unease, she dialed Cayden's mobile number.
After the call went through, she suddenly remembered. Cayden's private cell phone never accepted calls from unknown numbers.
Just as she was about to hang up, a magnetic male voice came from the other end. “Hello?”
Avery didn't overthink why Cayden would answer a call made from the hotel's landline. She anxiously asked, “Cayden, it's Avery. Last night... why was I the only one who came back? Where are you?”
Cayden's voice was gentle but seemed filled with exhaustion. “Last night, when you went to the restroom, you sent me a message saying you weren't feeling well and had to go home early. At that time, I was urgently dealing with matters concerning Roderick, so I didn't ask further. The issues with Roderick are quite complex and not easy to handle, so I've been busy until now. I didn't even have time
to call you. I'm sorry, Honey. What's wrong? Are you feeling better now?”
Promptly, the landline phone fell to the ground.
Avery was in agony, tearing at her long hair, hysterically laughing and crying at the same time. She looked like a madwoman who had lost all reason, startling the two wide-eyed receptionists.
Avery felt as if she had fallen into a massive web as a silkworm cocoon, tightly wrapped by the dark net. Whether she struggled or not, there was an indescribable pain all over her body. She couldn't escape, couldn't break free. The pain was so intense that it made her contemplate death!
She was no longer the pure and beautiful wife in Cayden's heart nor the gentle and loving mother in the children's minds. At that moment, she had become tainted, a loose woman.
As such, she believed she was unfit to be a wife, let alone a mother!
“Ms. Rumpley, are you... Are you alright?” the receptionist asked cautiously, looking at her with a gaze full of sympathy.
The hotel guests, coming and going, were whispering about Avery. They sized her up and harbored doubts in their hearts. This young and beautiful woman appears so clean and neat, yet her behavior is so abnormal. Could she possibly have a mental illness?
Inside the hall, the security guard on duty wanted to assist Avery, but she forcefully shrugged him off.
With stiff steps, Avery walked outside the hotel, feeling hollow.
