Chapter 327 The Final Agreement
Michael brought Emily back to Emerald Lake Manor.
Ava was surprised and quickly went over to Emily, eager to check in on her. Emily responded warmly, but as soon as they returned to the bedroom, her expression turned cold again.
Seeing this, Michael stood there like a kid who had done something wrong.
For the past few days, Emily had been wanting to return to Emerald Lake Manor to get some things.
She found it strange that every time she tried to distance herself from Michael, something always seemed to pull them back together.
This time, it was her sketchbook.
She had always kept it in the drawer of her nightstand.
Her time off was coming to an end, and she would be back at JM Jewelry soon. She needed to submit a design report to Penelope. So, she had to get busy, but she couldn't find her sketchbook.
It was only after searching her home tonight that she remembered it might be at Emerald Lake Manor.
Emily had been conflicted for a while, unsure how to go back and get it. She didn't expect Michael to show up at her door.
In Emily's memory, Michael rarely took the initiative.
Even if he did, it was probably only during those days in Everglade City.
But a utopia was still a utopia.
Emily knew she shouldn't linger in it, nor should she have any unrealistic expectations of Michael.
But she had a child to raise and work to do, so Emily treated this as a final farewell to Michael and to her own lingering feelings for that past relationship.
So, on the way, Emily was almost indifferent, with no intention of talking to Michael.
Seeing this, Michael couldn't hold back any longer and asked Emily, "Are you still mad at me?"
Emily couldn't help but let out a cold laugh.
She had long since stopped being angry. Whether it was three years ago or now, Emily only blamed herself.
"No."
Emily's response was brief, as if cutting off any further discussion.noveldrama
Michael took a deep breath, feeling helpless but compelled to speak, "I didn't do anything with Sophia."
Then why did you go to her birthday party?
Emily wanted to ask but felt it was pointless. She blinked coldly, not even giving Michael a good look. Her silence was her response, and Michael had no choice but to continue explaining, "I had a reason for going to her birthday party..."
At this point, Michael suddenly remembered something and asked Emily, "Did Sophia invite you too?"
Emily was slightly taken aback. She didn't expect Michael to bring this up.
Was he trying to embarrass her even more?
Or did he want to mock her along with Sophia?
Thinking of this, Emily felt a pang of sadness but refused to show her vulnerability to Michael.
She had already given in countless times for this ridiculous and fruitless relationship. "Yes, she did invite me. You didn't expect that, did you? Neither did I. Thanks to you, Mr. Smith."
Emily's tone was calm but distant, revealing no emotion.
"Are you going to go?" Michael's tone carried a hint of barely noticeable tension.
He knew he was asking a loaded question and that it might anger Emily.
Sure enough, Emily looked up sharply, her cold gaze almost killing him, but she didn't explode.

She was silent for a moment, then answered flatly, "No, I have more important things to do."
The more Emily acted like this, the more uneasy Michael felt. He quickly tried to keep the conversation going, hoping to explain things to Emily, but she didn't give him the chance.
"Sophia, she..."
"Michael, let the past stay in the past." Emily's eyes showed a hint of exhaustion. "I just want to focus on the present and the future. I don't want to care about you and her anymore."
Hearing this, Michael felt a surge of complex emotions.
He understood that Emily had decided to let go of the past and not dwell on their history.
But the more she did this, the less Michael could accept it.
He was ready to turn back, so how could Emily leave?
Just as Emily was about to turn and go inside, Michael couldn't hold back his impulse
any longer. He rushed forward and hugged her from behind.
"Let go of me." Emily said, exasperated.
Her soft hair fluttered in the wind, lightly brushing against Michael's cheek. Michael didn't avoid it, his Adam's apple bobbing unconsciously.
At this moment, he could clearly see his own heart. He knew he had fallen hopelessly in love with Emily.
And he couldn't let misunderstandings keep them apart at this crucial moment.
"Emily, come to the birthday party with me, or I'll cancel the collaboration between Watson Corporation and JM Jewelry. You know I can afford the penalty."
Hearing this, Emily was momentarily shocked.
Michael was crazy. He was using this tactic to threaten her again.
"Michael, this is between us. Why drag Watson Corporation into it..."

He cut her off, "Then what else can I use to threaten you? Emily, I don't want to pester you, but my heart won't let me let you go. If you don't believe me, I'll find a way to make you believe. You don't need to worry about whether what I said in Everglade City was true.
"I don't want to make empty promises. I just want to show you with my actions that Sophia and I are over. I just want to be with you. I just ask for a chance!"
Emily couldn't tell if Michael was sincere or not.
But she had to admit, she softened once again.
Meanwhile, Michael's face was close to her shoulder, his hands around her waist, the pressure just right, but the presence strong like a burning flame.
"How do I give you a chance?" Emily closed her eyes and spoke coolly.
"Come with me to Sophia's birthday party this Sunday. If, after that day, our
misunderstanding isn't resolved, I won't bother you anymore."
Michael's response was firm, his breath warm against Emily's neck.
That feeling was irresistible to Emily.
She was silent for a while, then finally forced out a word.
"Okay."
Though they hadn't divorced, they were living apart.
After getting her sketchbook from Emerald Lake Manor, Emily left again under Michael's watchful eyes.
It was a strange feeling, knowing they cared for each other but still having a barrier between them that couldn't be broken.
And Emily hadn't told Michael that she was helping Abigail and herself look for a new place. She was also working harder, planning to leave the Smith family and his control once they divorced.
They were destined to go their separate ways.
This was the ending Emily had long accepted in her heart.
