The Double or more Life of the Fake Heiress (Mirabella)

Chapter 1390

"Hey, should we let Nick, Ms. Mirabella's contact, know about this?" Wyatt suddenly recalled, having previously swapped contact info with Atlas.

"Yeah," James replied quietly. There was nothing secretive about it, especially since the Davis family's global connections were likely more robust than his own.

A suspect accused of stealing national research secrets shouldn't have been let go in the first place. Now that he's out, staying in the country doesn't seem likely. James glanced out the car window, feeling a bit stuffy inside. He rolled it down, letting in the brisk air, which eased the heaviness in his chest a bit.

At a red light, Wyatt hit the brakes and grabbed his phone to shoot a quick message to Atlas on Messenger, giving a brief rundown of the situation. It seemed Atlas was tied up, as he didn't respond right away. Not wanting to pester him, Wyatt decided to leave it at that.

Half an hour later, they were back in their neighborhood. As Wyatt was about to head out, he noticed James rubbing his temples, assuming he was still stressed about Ben. "Don't sweat it too much, James. Ben's got enough on his plate; he won't be causing any trouble," he reassured him.

James gave a soft hum, waved goodbye, and headed inside.

As soon as Atlas got Wyatt's message, he reported it to Nick. Nick had been out of the hospital for a few days. Thanks to some cover-up by the virus center, no one suspected anything when he returned to the medical school. He'd been swamped with research there lately.

Just as he got home, Atlas called. Frowning slightly, Nick pondered for a moment before asking, "Still nothing solid on Ben?"

Atlas shook his head, "Just surface stuff, not much help."

"Alright, no need to rush. Just keep an eye on the immigration logs; he can't stick around here anymore," Nick instructed.

"Got it, I'll handle it," Atlas replied.noveldrama

He initially thought about suggesting extra protection for Miss Mira, but recalling Mirabella's sharp skills and marksmanship, he hesitated. He might even get an earful for suggesting it.

After hanging up, Nick stood quietly in the garden for a couple of minutes before turning to go inside. Just then, he spotted Mirabella lazily leaning against the door frame.

Startled for a second, Nick collected himself and walked over. "When did you come out?"

Mirabella tilted her head slightly, waiting until Nick got closer before standing up straight. She glanced at the phone he was still holding. "Just now. Who's calling you at this hour?"

Nick paused, remembering how his recent injury had upset his sister She could be pretty intimidating when angry, so he decided to be upfront. "Atlas just called. Ben's been bailed out."

Mirabella didn't seem fazed. She nodded, "Figured as much."

Someone who managed to stay hidden at the medical school for over ten years must have some serious backing.

Knowing Mirabella had her own insights, and seeing no trace of fear or worry on her face, Nick simply cautioned, "Just be extra careful these days."

Mirabella gave him an OK sign and turned to head inside. "I'm off to my room, Nick. You should get some rest too."

She had plenty on her plate, with a department project due soon and needing to head back to school tomorrow, even though it was Saturday.
