The Sway and Slide of Love

Chapter 641

However, Hendrix didn't seem particularly moved. He just sat there, watching her. His gaze was so intense that Noelle almost wondered if he had seen through her.

But the next moment, he simply said, "Alright. I'll go get them for you. When do you need them?"

"The sooner, the better. You're free these two days anyway, aren't you?"

Hendrix didn't respond.

"Will you go this afternoon?" Noelle pressed.

Hendrix suddenly smiled. Then, he reached out and took her hand. His grip was unexpectedly forceful, to the point where Noelle's bones began to ache.

She couldn't help but frown. "You're hurting me."

"Sorry about that," Hendrix finally said, but he sounded absentminded and didn't seem apologetic at all.

Noelle wanted to say more, but he continued, "I'll have someone book the ticket then. It shouldn't take long-I'll be back by tonight."

Noelle paused, then nodded.

"Is there anything else you need besides the laptop and sketches?" Hendrix asked.

"No, that's all."

"Alright. I'll video call you when I'm there. You'll answer, right?"

His last question caught Noelle off guard.

She quickly nodded. "Of course!"

"Good. It's settled, then. I'll have someone book the ticket."

With that, Hendrix got up to make the call. Since it was a same-day trip, he didn't need to pack a suitcase.

Noelle had originally wanted to suggest that he stay overnight instead of rushing back, but the words never made it past her lips.

Hendrix was simply far too

perceptive. He knew her well enough that any lie she told would be

immediately exposed. Just a

moment ago, Noelle thought he net?

seen through her. But fortunately, he

didn't.

At this moment, Noelle joined the household staff to see him off to the car.

"Wait for me to come back tonight," Hendrix said. Then, after thinking about it, he changed his mind. "Just go to sleep if it's too late. Don't wait up for me."

"Okay," Noelle said with a smile.

Hendrix looked down at her for a moment, then suddenly pulled her close and kissed her on the lips.

The drivers and others were waiting nearby. Noelle wasn't comfortable with public displays of affection, so she instinctively pressed her hands against his chest. But in the end, she didn't push him away.

There was something almost resentful in his kiss. At the end, he even bit her lip.

The cut wasn't deep, but Noelle could still taste blood. She frowned slightly.

Just then, Hendrix let her go.

"I'm going now," he said.

Noelle nodded quickly.

Hendrix gave her one last lingering look before finally getting into the car.

Noelle remained standing where she was. It wasn't until the car had driven far into

the distance that she slowly turned around.

The household staff were smiling at her.

"Oh, Mrs. Freeman, Mr. Freeman is so good to you!"

"Yes, you two are such a loving couple!"

It was only in the past couple of

days that the staff had finally dared to speak to her. In fact, during the past few months, no one except Hendrix had dared to approach

Noelle. But now, everyone knew she had recovered. So, they had started chatting and joking with her.

Noelle smiled faintly back at them. Then, she said, "I'm a little tired, so I'm going upstairs to rest. I won't be having lunch, and please don't come upstairs. I can't sleep if there are noises."
