The True Heiress's Return

Heiress’s Return 282

The value of two villas in the city center went without saying, but the important thing was the shares in the Lopez Group...

The subsidiaries under the Lopez Group were involved in many booming industries and ranked high in profits. Just 3% of the shares were worth over a few billion.

Several rich kids exclaimed, "Wow, Mr. Lopez really is generous With their family backgrounds, even when they got married, they usually had prenuptial agreements. The business was family-owned, and their wives typically didn't have a share. Not to mention marriage, Walter gave away part of the company's shares just for a relationship. They were regretting it now, having been fooled by Walter's cold and reserved demeanor. They never expected that he would actually be a simple romantic. If only they had introduced their sisters to Walter, they could've lived in wealth for generations. Of course, this thought stayed in their hearts. No one dared to speak it out loud.

In contrast, Kyle and the others calmed down quickly. Kyle nodded, saying, "Alright, I'll be the witness for this."Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

Calton made a surprising comment, "What if the reason for your breakup is because Shakira got interested in someone else? Wouldn't Mr. Lopez's compensation be too regretful then?"

Shakira widened her eyes, thinking, 'Wow, I didn't even dare to imagine that, yet Calton did!

Walter suddenly let out a soft laugh, his cold eyes staring at her. "There won't be such a chance, right?"

Shakira immediately felt a chill down her spine, wondering, 'Hmm, this isn't a threat, definitely not!' She earnestly replied, "Right, it won't happen."

Walter nodded in satisfaction and rewarded her with a slice of caramel apple. "Open your mouth," he said. Shakira took a bite. "Wow, that's too sweet."

She was munching on the caramel apple, mumbling, "Actually, you don't have to give me these things. Even if we... break up in the future, there's no need for any compensation."

"With these, the gossipers won't be able to hurt you with their words anymore." Walter gently placed a slice of caramel pineapple near her lips, his usually stern features showing a rare softness. "No matter when, I never want to become something that hurts you." Shakira was startled. She opened her mouth to eat the caramel pineapple. The strands of sweetness seemed to flow from her tongue straight to her heart.

Sean had someone check on Yvette's news again, and knowing that her kidney couldn't be saved made him feel so delighted. He'd been itching to see Yvette get her comeuppance for so long, and now that it was finally happening. He couldn't be happier. That was what Yvette got for always coveting Shakira's kidney. It was karma.

It wasn't enough to enjoy this by himself, so Sean thought for a moment and gave Xanthe a call.

As soon as Xanthe picked up the call, she was just brimming with anger. "Sean, how many is this now? Your blind dates are more numerous than a centipede's legs!"

God knew how frustrated she was. Right after the New Year, Sean's blind dates started again. Eve kept trying and failing, but she never gave up.

Eve scheduled a date for Sean every day. Xanthe was ready 24/7 to ruin them, seeing Sean more often than her own parents

Tue,

during the holiday.

Sean was speechless. "Today isn't a blind date. I'm just inviting you out for dinner."

Xanthe was cautious. "Why? Are you really that

to treat me to dinner?"

If Cathy and Gideon hadn't already made plans, he wouldn't have bothered to meet Xanthe.

Sean laughed as he briefly explained what happened to Yvette. Just as expected, Xanthe yelled from the other side, "What? Yvette got hurt so badly that she needs a kidney removed? Wow, how did such a great thing happen to her?" The gossip from the reality show had been circulating wildly, and Xanthe had been lying in bed enjoying it all day. Unexpectedly, there was even more exciting news to come.

Sean grinned, "Stop talking and hurry out."

Xanthe leaped up. "I'll be there right away."

Sean was genuinely thrilled this time, and with a grand gesture, he invited Xanthe to dine at the most prestigious restaurant in Crescentville's culinary scene, where the gold-leaf cuisine costs a whopping 3,000 dollars per person. The restaurant prides itself on crafting every dish with the utmost quality ingredients. Each plate was adorned with exquisite decorations such as pearls, jewels, and gold, which customers could freely take home as gifts. Xanthe was still torn about whether to be taken advantage of when Sean offered her a freebie. She thought, 'On such a joyful day, why not enjoy a free meal?'

She took a cab over, and as soon as she walked into the restaurant, she saw Sean already seated. Before Xanthe could join him, a graceful woman in a white dress sat down across from Sean.

Xanthe squinted her eyes and sat not far away, quietly observing

She couldn't see Sean's face and didn't know how he was reacting. But every gesture and smile of that graceful woman exuded charm. No matter what was being said, she'd listen intently, her eyes softening at the corners. Sean's date this time seemed to have a stronger mental fortitude than the previous ones.

After chatting for a while, Sean got up and headed toward the restroom, and then Xanthe's phone rang.

'When he can't handle things himself, he still has to come to me right?' Xanthe thought.

Xanthe hung up the phone and strolled over confidently, sitting down where Sean had been earlier.

Emily Dickinson looked surprised at the bold girl who appeared. After a brief pause, she smiled, "Miss, this is my friend's..."

"Sean, my boyfriend," Xanthe said, lounging back against the chair and giving Emily a cheeky look. Then she touched her belly and grinned slyly, "I'm pretty satisfied with you as a stepmother."

Emily slightly furrowed her brow, her gaze becoming cold. "I don't understand what you mean."

Xanthe paid her no mind, rudely grabbing a gold-foil rose from the table and taking a bite. "Wow, it's actually real?"

She greedily put the rose into her pocket, then looked up and gave Emily a cheeky smile. "Didn't Sean tell you? My child is going to be the legitimate first grandson of the Reynolds family when he's born. "Even though his family doesn't want me to marry him, they have to acknowledge the child. So, even if you're interested in Sean, you'll have to be a stepmother to my baby."

Emily couldn't stand Xanthe's greedy and mocking smile anymore. Her elegant demeanor broke, and she got up and left.

"Emily?" Sean had just come back and saw the embarrassed look on Emily's face. Then he saw Xanthe making a silly face and sticking out her tongue at him, and he understood immediately. Xanthe thought Emily was one of those blind dates of his. Remembering how they always made those high-society ladies angry, Sean felt embarrassed.

He took Emily's hand and said to Xanthe with annoyance, "What nonsense did you say? Emily is my friend. Apologize to her now!"

Xanthe's smile froze instantly and slowly faded away.

"Sean, what do you mean by that?" Xanthe also stood up. "I helped you, and now you're asking me to apologize?"

Sean lost his patience. "I didn't ask you to help."

"Fine." Xanthe immediately turned hostile, throwing the gold foil rose onto the table. "If you don't want my help, then forget it. All my goodwill was wasted." With that, Xanthe turned and walked away, not looking back even when Sean called after her.
