Chapter 1114
Chapter 1114:
Having sparred in countless arguments over the years, Caden wasn’t perturbed by her words. “I’ll do as you say.”
Alicia forced a smile, her eyes cold. “Then it’s settled. Abstinence.”
“Sure, I’m fine with that,” Caden responded, leaning back nonchalantly in his chair, his indifference serving as its own provocation.
Alicia sneered, brushing off his taunts.
They sat in tense silence, their attention inadvertently turning toward Cliff. Sensing their intense stares, Cliff felt unnerved and chose to dismount after another round, helping Gemma off the horse.noveldrama
Corey approached to take Gemma, offering Cliff his thanks.
Wiping his sweat with a towel, Cliff walked over to Caden and Alicia, immediately sensing the tension. He asked, “Who’s upset you two?”
Alicia wasn’t one to let personal disputes show in front of others. Her face unchanged, she responded, “No one.”
Cliff said, “Then why do you both look so grim?”
Alicia absentmindedly replied, “You looked so dashing on the horse that I couldn’t help but get distracted.”
Cliff instinctively glanced at Caden, who was fiddling with the ring on his finger. His lips twitched in a semblance of a smile, but it was unsettling.
Deciding to leave the tense situation, Cliff made a gesture of goodwill. “It’s good that Caden is here. You two enjoy yourselves. I’ll cover today’s expenses.”
With that, Cliff headed toward the showers. Unexpectedly, he caught his cousin lurking near the locker room.
Upon being spotted, she turned to leave, but Cliff asked, “What are you doing here?”
Her back stiffened, and she said, “I wanted to see you.”
She came here to see him, only to catch him seemingly enjoying himself with another woman. Since realizing her feelings toward him, Cliff had become distant and even dismissive, a shift reserved just for her.
Frustrated and not wanting to show her tears, she refused to face him. Cliff approached and lifted her chin. “Why are you crying? Who upset you?” His tone was stern, almost fatherly.
She brushed off his hand. “No one. It’s just the wind… That woman earlier, is she your type?”
Cliff frowned. “Why do you ask?”
Forcing a smile, she replied, “Sorry, I won’t ask anymore… You go ahead. I won’t bother you again.”
She turned to leave, almost running away, clearly wanting to avoid him. Cliff was left feeling slightly annoyed. What did she mean by not “bothering him again”? They lived under the same roof. Avoidance was nearly impossible.
