Chapter 1853
Sadies gaze shot upward, her eyes wide with fear as the looming shadow of the doctor fell over her.
She yelled at him, her voice laced with panic, trying to make him back off.
Miss Pierre, this injection is necessary to stabilize your condition, the doctor said.
Sadie didnt believe him at all.
I dont trust you! Youre just trying to take my baby away! Stay back! Her eyes blazed with a dangerous light as she clutched the bundle close to her chest, her forehead marked by pulsing veins.
Jabbing a finger at the doctor, she shouted, Youre working with that bitch Ariana, arent you? Feeling resigned and realizing Sadie was not in her right mind, the doctor sighed deeply.
Seeing no point in talking to Sadie further, he reached out and tried to remove the bundle from Sadies arms to proceed with the injection.
Sadies protective instincts kicked in.
Driven by a primal urge, she lunged at the doctor, biting and striking him in desperation.
Then, as Sadie grabbed the syringe off the floor and aimed it at the doctor, Shawn burst into the room. He quickly intervened, wresting the bundle from her and tossing it aside carelessly.
Despite Sadies heart-wrenching cries and screams, Shawn subdued her firmly, administered the injection himself, and then escorted her away.
The hidden cells held more than just Sadie; another prisoner remained confined behind a cell.
Two burly bodyguards stood outside the cell, their faces stern.
Inside the cell was Zayden, the man responsible for kidnapping Melon and Moss.
Gone was the triumphant, self-assured look Zayden had once worn on the island.
His messy hair, tangled like a birds nest, clung to his gaunt face now.
His eyes were sunken and wide with exhaustion.
The cell wasnt soundproof, and as Zayden leaned against the cold, rough wall, the faint sound of a womans agonizing cries reached his ears.
He found the womans voice familiar.
Could the woman be Sadie? Zayden quickly shook his head, trying to dispel the idea. No, the woman couldnt be Sadie.
Holden was too cautious to keep them locked up so close.
After a while, the womans cries finally ceased.
Zayden didnt dwell on who the woman was, nor on what had caused Holdens men to torture her.
He knew he could not help anyone, not even himself.
Instead of wasting his energy thinking about others, he had to focus on his plan to escape.
Despite his efforts to focus, Zaydens mind rebelled, incessantly replaying memories of Sadie.
Zayden suddenly chuckled and raised his eyes to the ceiling.
Sadie, you silly woman, he muttered under his breath. Zayden couldnt decide if Sadie was foolish or hopelessly naive.
Out of everyone, she had fallen for Holden, a man known for his ruthless demeanor.
Deep down, Zayden cursed Sadies foolishness.
But he couldnt help but think of the child Sadie carried.noveldrama
He thought that Sadie would be close to giving birth now.
Caught in these reflections, Zayden was jolted back to reality by the metal screeching as the iron door swung open.
He raised his head, his expression blank and eyes wide.
When he saw Shawn enter, flanked by a group of men dressed in black, his hand instinctively clenched the fabric of his shirt.
His gaze hardened, turning sharp as ice.
A sneer curled on his lips as he spat, How bold of a mere lackey to act so recklessly in your masters absence.
What do you think?
