Under the Heiress' Facade

Chapter 634

Chapter 634

Augustus wasn't surprised by Hera's cold and distant attitude. They had met before at the international medical research conference.

Hera went as the anonymous miracle doctor then. Graden, the president of the international medical research conference, held her in high regard and tried to keep her as vice president, but Hera refused.

Augustus had admired her then for her dedication to medicine, unmoved by fame. He had even attempted to recruit her but could never contact her. When he eventually learned that the miracle doctor was actually Hera, it left him with a mix of emotions.

"Not exactly." Augustus chuckled, then said seriously, "I've been in Syldoria for the international medical research conference these past few weeks. I wasn't aware of the trouble my family has caused you.

"I'm here today to apologize on behalf of the Chime family for their reckless actions. We failed to properly educate him."

Augustus took out a contract from his bag and continued, "The Chime family bought this plot of land near Jedburgh's suburbs to build a hospital. However, my family lacks talent in alternative medicine. As a gesture of apology, I'm transferring this land to you. I hope you can accept the Chime family's apology,"

Hera paused and looked up, eyeing the land transfer contract suspiciously.Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

She had heard about this land. The Chime family had spent over two billion dollars on it and planned to start construction this year. However, after Camille's impersonation was exposed by Hera, the project was put on hold. What was the Chime family up to now by apologizing and offering such a valuable asset? Those involved might know it was a gesture of apology and a desire to cooperate. But to outsiders, it could look like...

"Are you trying to bribe me?" Hera asked.

Augustus explained, "Please don't misunderstand. Treating patients and saving lives is our duty as doctors. The Chime family initially practiced alternative medicine. Over time, we transitioned to modern medicine. I've always wanted the Chime family to revive their roots.

"Transferring this land to you is the best way I can think of for the Chime family to contribute to alternative medicine. I hope you can accept it and help promote alternative medicine."

Despite his flattering words, his intention was clear. He wanted to provide the land for Hera to establish a hospital specializing in alternative medicine. That way, their past grievances would be behind them and they could work together.

Hera raised her hand to interrupt his speech. "Let's skip the empty talk. If you're that sincere, then give me the surgical records and contract for the surgery performed on Linda at Reinland Hospital."

Augustus was stunned. Why didn't Hera want the land worth over two billion dollars but the surgical records? The miracle doctor truly was noble-untempted by wealth and solely focused on medicine.

But Augustus was also surprised by Hera's request. How did Hera know about Linda's surgery? It was confidential, and few were aware of it.

"This..." Augustus hesitated.

"Augustus, what are you doing here?" Catherine emerged from the consultation room after seeing a patient. Her cheerful expression froze when she saw Augustus. She told Isla to prepare the medicine for the patient before walking over with a dark expression.

"Catherine..." Augustus' gaze was filled with a mix of joy, restraint, and helplessness.

Hera rarely saw Catherine like this. She glanced between the two, sensing something was amiss.

"I'm here to apologize to Ms. Youngworth on behalf of the Chime family," Augustus answered.

Catherine knew a bit about Marcus pushing a doctor in the operating room when Hera was operating but wasn't

sure if Augustus' apology was for that or the incident with Everly.
