Chapter 56: Left Behind

CHAPTER FIFTY-FOUR:

Left Behind

--

Bomb?

April paled after hearing the phrase. Even Tyler furrowed his brows. Dave looked at Aaron and the latter was thinking deeply. Sheryl gripped Tyler’s arm tightly and said, “Is that so? Then we should get going to the safe room. But- is that sturdy enough to protect us from exploding bombs?”

April glared at her, “Do you think our building is made with cheap materials? Unless it’s nuclear, of course it will withstand it.”

Sheryl glared back, “If you’re that proud of your hotel, why did those even enter here?”

April looked at her in disappointment, “Ha! You were pretty smart when we were high school but for some reason your personality and intelligence decreased in alarming rate during college. Did you not hear what this guy said earlier? They killed the guards.” She snorted and rolled her eyes; absolute disgust was lacing her stares and voice. “Stupid. What can human do with guns? Evade them in a super lightning speed like superheroes?”

“You-!” Sheryl was red from frustration and embarrassment. She glared at the other and tried to advance but Tyler pulled her back, placing her back to her place.

Tyler opened his mouth, “Enough with the useless bickering. You’re only making yourself look stupid.” The two was speechless with this and they can only sneer and look away. He did not spare them any of his attention and spoke to the attendant that was anxiously looking there and here. “Lead them there.”

The attendant visibly relaxed, he nodded fervently. “Yes, yes sir!”

The other also stood up and trailed after the attendant while whispering to their group of friends. Some were already calling somebody, some were looking anxious and scared, while the others were composed and calm, like they had already experienced this once in their life.

They were only less than thirty, so it was not that crowded at all. They were restless and was ready to run to safety, but they know nothing about the route where the safe room was. So, they obediently followed the attendant with constant pressure for him to hurry up. The attend was in fear as well, so there was no way he will stay outside any longer.

While everyone was busy trying to get to safety, Tyler’s eyes were darting towards everywhere. Dave noticed this and asked, “Who are you looking for Tyler?”

Tyler did not reply and when his eyes did not see what he was looking for, he forcefully unclasped Sheryl’s hands on his arms and jogged towards the front where the attendant was, leading the way.

“Tyler- hon- wait! Where are you going?!” Sheryl’s cries were left unheard by Tyler.

He matched the pace of the attendant and asked in a hurried manner. “Have you seen a lady while coming here?”

“Sir? A lady?” The attendant asked. “I have not sir. Most of the guest were already evacuated and I did not encounter anyone going here.”

Tyler furrowed his brows even more. “No one? But she left at the same direction where you came from.”

“What?” The attendant also furrowed his brows before paling. “Are you sure she did not enter the elevator?”

“No,” Tyler answered. “There are only two elevators in this floor as far as I know, and both are in front of us all the time. I know she took the stairs.”

“But I came upstairs-“ the attendant paled. “She maybe went downstairs sir! That not good!”

“Why?”

He was hesitant but still said it, “It was fortunate enough that we already evacuated the guests on that floor on time, but after that, three of the intruders were already roaming on that floor.”

Tyler pursed his lips after hearing it. That was when Sheryl, April and the other two went to him. They noticed his expression but only Dave dared to ask. “What’s wrong Tyler?” Text © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

Tyler looked at the four and spoke to Aaron. “Hold her down for me.”

Aaron pursed his lips before shaking his head in surrender, “… Sure.”

Dave was confused, so was Sheryl. Tyler nodded and said gratefully. “Thanks.” He patted his back before dashing away.

Sheryl widens her eyes and she yelled at him. “Wait- hon! Where are you going?”

He turned deaf ear about her call and went to where Althea went. Sheryl attempted to follow suit, but Aaron grabbed her arm. She shouted at him in annoyance. “Let go of me!”

Aaron, the master of ignoring annoying people, turned to drag her towards the direction of the safe room. Sheryl continued struggling.

Dave just now understood the meaning behind Tyler’s words, and he can only look at Sheryl awkwardly, thinking how painful it was to be left by her own fiancé just to look after another girl.
