Chapter 62
“So, I don’t know either. I don’t intend to hide it from you,” Orion said. If he knew, he would definitely tell Elijah. This way, Elijah might let go of Freya.
“Are you angry because of this?” he asked.
Elijah stared coldly at him, “Orion, do you think I’m a fool? She doesn’t even know who her man is? Now, she’s tracking my whereabouts, spreading rumors about me, deliberately pushing me into Liora Valentine’s arms, playing all these tricks, and you say she doesn’t know who her man is?”
Now, hearing Elijah’s words, Orion felt they made sense. How could Freya not know who her man was? Why would she hide it?
“I understand now,” Orion slapped his thigh. He looked at Elijah, “She even guards me. You know, in this escape incident, she didn’t let any information leak to me. She knows about our relationship, fears I might spill the beans, and told me she doesn’t know who her man is. She must be deliberately hiding it from me, afraid I’d tell you.”
The more Orion thought about it, the more he believed it was the case.
“I’ve been so considerate to her, and yet, she is so wary of me. It really hurts my feelings.”
“Do you think she’s a woman with a conscience?” Elijah sneered, “She doesn’t have one at all.”
Orion remained silent. He looked at Elijah cautiously.
“You’re drinking because she’s trying to set you up with Liora Valentine?” Orion knew Freya and Elijah were impossible. Freya not only had a man but also a child.
“In fact, I think Liora Valentine is more suitable for you…”
Elijah looked at him, the corner of his lips sharp as a blade. His voice was low, on the verge of erupting, “Orion, do you know my preferences? I don’t even know if Liora Valentine is suitable, and you claim to know?”
Meeting his icy gaze, Orion involuntarily shrank. He quickly explained, “I just think Liora Valentine is a woman you’ve had a good time with…”
“We never had a good time.”
“But you slept together.” Orion pointed out.
Elijah was instantly speechless. He irritably adjusted his collar.
Orion continued, “At least, Liora has given herself to you, but Freya gave herself to another man. So, think about it, isn’t Liora better?”
Did he not understand this logic?
“All this talk is nonsense!” Elijah stood up. His mind must be muddled.
Discussing relationships with a man inexperienced in emotions was a complete mess.
If he liked Liora Valentine, he would have been with her already.NôvelDrama.Org: owner of this content.
Why bother entangling with Freya here?
Thinking of Freya’s face, he felt a chill again.
In the private room, after Elijah left, Orion immediately called Freya to ask what had happened. However, no one answered the phone.
Freya sat on the floor, hugging the bed, wrapped in a bedsheet, her gaze unfocused as she stared out the window. The phone vibrated on the table. She either didn’t hear it or heard but chose not to answer. Perhaps, she didn’t want to talk now. The phone rang twice in succession before stopping.
Freya sat on the floor all night.
In the morning, when she went downstairs, she had a pair of panda eyes, and a red mark on her neck from Elijah’s grip.
She sat at the table for breakfast, and Elijah was there too. Neither of them looked at each other. It was like a game of who could ignore the other better.
Elijah finished eating and stood up. From start to finish, he didn’t spare a glance at Freya, as if she didn’t exist.
The sound of the door closing rang out, and Freya, scooping her porridge, paused for a moment. Soon, she resumed eating.
Linda approached quietly and asked, “Did you two have another fight?”
Freya didn’t say anything.
Seeing the marks on her neck, Linda sighed heavily. As a servant, she couldn’t intervene in such matters. She silently went about her work, doing her own job.
Freya left after eating. She went to the dance studio for classes. She had three classes in the morning.
At noon, Mrs Quinn called her to join for lunch. While eating, Mrs Quinn noticed the red mark on her neck.
“Did someone hit you?” she asked tentatively.
Freya realized her neck was exposed and quickly covered it.
“You had three classes this morning, the foundation makeup on your neck has worn off. It’s not coverable. Tell me who bullied you? I’ll take revenge for you.”
Freya moved her lips, wanting to say something, but in the end, she stayed silent.
Mrs Quinn, realizing Freya didn’t want to talk about it, didn’t press further.
“Eat a bit more, replenish your body.” Mrs Quinn advised.
Freya didn’t say anything and silently continued eating her food. When she finished work, she went home.
These days, she basically kept to a routine. In the evening, she hardly saw Elijah. He would come back very late. Even if they happened to cross paths in the morning, they ignored each other. It was as if overnight, they had become strangers.
In the morning, when Freya was about to go to work, the phone at home rang. Linda answered it. After the call, Linda stopped Freya, “It’s a call from Deck. He wants you and Mr Silverton to go to the old house tonight.”
Freya acknowledged and left.
In the evening at seven, Elijah came back. He must have received a call about going to the old house; otherwise, he wouldn’t have come back at this time. These two days, he seemed intentionally avoiding her. Freya could feel it; he was deliberately steering clear of her.
His voice was very cold, “Got the call?”
Freya nodded, “Yes.”
“Let’s go.” He turned and walked ahead.
When getting in the car, Freya sat in the back.
Elijah didn’t say anything. He silently drove the car.
They arrived at the old house, where the dining room was prepared with a table full of dishes.
Jack Silverton waved them over, “Come here, both of you.”
Elijah and Freya walked over and sat down.
“I haven’t seen you two for a while. I called you over to have a meal together,” Jack Silverton said. While speaking, his gaze fell on Freya, “Are you doing well recently?”
Freya nodded, “Yes.”
“That’s good. Let’s eat!”
Freya kept her head down.
The food tasted flavorless for her as if she was chewing wax.
Elijah suddenly stood up, “Grandfather, I’m done eating. You continue.”
After speaking, he walked out of the dining room.
Feeling that the atmosphere between them was not right, Jack Silverton waited for Elijah to leave before asking, “Have you two had a fight?”
Freya didn’t deny it.
“Yes.”
“He has a bad temper. You need to tolerate him more. I’ve told you this before.” Jack Silverton sighed.
Freya moved her lips, wanting to say something, but ultimately, she remained silent.
Jack Silverton sensed that Freya’s complexion wasn’t good, realizing that her days with Elijah probably weren’t easy. He didn’t continue, saying, “Eat more, replenish your body.”
After finishing the meal, Jack Silverton detained her for a while before letting her go.
“Go find Elijah.” Said Jack.
Freya responded but she had no idea where Elijah was, nor did she want to find him.
She walked alone towards the backyard.
Near the rockery, she saw Elijah standing by the pond.
