Your Love Is But a Dream (Clara and Wren)

Chapter 297

Clara let out a sarcastic laugh. "Wren, I don't believe you never suspected

anything. Why did the chandelier fall that day, right where I was sitting, and why did Ivy just happen to come looking for me? Do you really think that was just an accident?"

Katrina knew she couldn't get justice for Clara with Carlisle protecting her, so she never told Clara the truth. However, Clara had suspected it. She wasn't stupid. There are no such things as endless coincidences in the world. If no one had deliberately tried to harm her, this wouldn't have happened.

During that time, Wren really had a lot on his plate. He was juggling work, dealing with Carlisle and Ivy, and handling the engagement preparations. He was stretched too thin to think about anything else, so he genuinely believed the incident that day was just an accident.

At the time, he was forced to act, and so he chose to save Ivy first. He never imagined that Clara would end up so badly hurt or that she might never pick up a paintbrush again. Every time he thought about it, regret consumed him, especially when he saw the scar on her wrist.

The pain in his heart was almost unbearable.

"I'll get to the bottom of this, and I'll make sure you get answers," Wren said, clenching his fists as a trace of hostility flashed in his bloodshot eyes. "If I find out this wasn't an accident, I won't let the person responsible get away with it."

Clara shook her head. "I'm telling you this to make one thing clear. Once trust is broken, no matter how hard you try to fix it, the damage remains. The past is the past, and the distance between us can never be bridged.

"Wren, you should understand by now that we can never return to how we once were. Whatever you do to make up for it won't matter to me. Stop wasting your time on me."

As Wren met her calm and composed gaze, his heart tightened. The love he once saw in her eyes had vanished, though he couldn't pinpoint when it had happened.

No matter how much he tried to deceive himself, Wren couldn't deny the truth anymore. Clara had truly let him go.

Yet, he couldn't accept this

outcome. He refused to. If she

wouldn't forgive him, he would\

spend his entire life making up for it until she was willing to turn back.

"It seems like you won't give me another chance," he said with a bitter smile. "But Clara, you can't convince me."noveldrama

Clara looked at his stubborn

expression and frowned. She had

never imagined that she would be the first to let go, nor had she

imagined that Wren would be so obsessed with her.

Back then, he had been so cold and hurtful toward her. He had crushed her love for him, piece by piece, until it could never be put back together. But now, he was desperately asking for her love again.

It just felt too contradictory.

Clara took a deep breath. "Say what you want, but you promised me you'd leave today. If you lie to me again, I won't speak to you ever again."

Wren hadn't expected her to say something so threatening just to force him to leave.
