A Love Forgotten

Chapter 163

Chapter 163

Willie studied the three of us-Logan, Jonathan, and myself. She asked, "Are both of you tormenting Ari even though you're older than her?"

Jonathan frowned. "We're not."

Willie questioned, "Why is she bawling her eyes out like that, then?"

No one answered her because no one knew how to explain the situation.

Jonathan said to Willie, "Just comfort her for a bit, and don't ask any other questions."

Willie nodded. Jonathan and Logan then walked out of the ward.

I could see them lighting cigarettes and smoking in the hallway. Then, they turned their backs on me as they spoke with one another.

Willie examined the look on my face. She asked, "Ari, are you feeling sad because of Elijah?"

I lowered my head and remained silent.

Willie sighed. "From the way he expressed himself yesterday, it does look like he's sincerely sorry. After all, as someone with a status like his, he was willing to ask you for your forgiveness in public. That's not an easy thing to do..."

I rubbed my eyes. "I don't want to talk about him."

Willie nodded understandingly. "Let's talk about other things, then. Your leg is much better, isn't it? What do you plan to do after you recover, Ari?"

I was startled. This was a question I had never considered.

I tried sounding her out by asking, "I'll go back to studying?"

Willie was shocked. "Why would you go back to studying? Haven't you already graduated?"

Regretfully, I clarified, "I-I've forgotten everything."

Willie was speechless. Suddenly, she asked, "How about getting a job?"

I gasped in surprise.

Willie perked up. "I'm lacking in manpower at the art gallery. We're really short-handed. Moreover, I feel that work at the art gallery is relaxing yet high-paying. You can work part-time if you'd like, Ari."

I was hesitant.

Willie continued to encourage me, "Ari, you can work part-time at the art gallery while you study." Astonished, I asked, "Do I have to put in that much effort?"

Willie was stunned by my question. We looked into one another's eyes, then laughed.

I nodded. "I can give it a go. Other than that, I have to go to university and pick up a new skill."noveldrama

Willie consoled me, "Ari, you don't have to worry. The only hardship an heiress like you would probably have to go through is in relationships. You wouldn't have to put in that much effort in everything else. Studying is not considered a hardship. Rather, it's a part of life."

I gave her words some thought and figured that she made sense.

In the hallway outside, Logan asked in a calm voice, "How long do you plan to hide it from her?"

Jonathan took a deep puff of his cigarette. "I don't know."

Logan peered behind him. "She'll find out eventually."

Looking troubled, Jonathan said, "I know, but let's just hide it from her for as long as we can. You'd better not say anything to her either."

Logan shrugged. "I'm not that kind of a person."

Jonathan scratched his head in frustration. With a furious expression on his face, he said, "Also, what is Elijah trying to do now? I'm really tempted to seek him out and give him a good beating."

Logan lowered his eyes. "You'll get a chance to do so."

At this moment, Willie walked out, smiling politely.

"Jonathan, Ari is feeling much better. She said that she wants to go back to studying after she recovers from her leg injury. I also asked her to work at my art gallery on a part-time basis."

Awkwardly, Jonathan said, "Thank you. She can go back to studying, but I reckon she doesn't have to work part-time."

Logan chuckled. "Having a part-time job is not a bad idea. But will she have a basic salary?" Willie smiled and explained, "There isn't a basic salary, but she'll earn commissions from sales. I'll give her a 20% cut. It's higher than what regular employees get."

Jonathan wasn't pleased. "Wouldn't she be working for nothing if there isn't a basic salary?"

Willie blinked at him. "She'd have more freedom without a basic salary."

Jonathan gave it some thought. "Alright then. Oh, right. Do I get any discounts for the art piece I bought?"

She smiled sweetly. "Shall I give you a discount that only the boss of the art gallery gets?"

Jonathan grinned. "Sure. That's a deal."

Right after he said that, he noticed Logan staring at him as if he were looking at an idiot. Jonathan scratched his head. "What is it this time?"
