Chapter 944
Chloe sat there for a while, deep in thought. "I honestly can't remember. My memory's just awful."
Connor chuckled softly and gently ruffled Chloe's hair. "No worries. It'll come back to you, and when it does, just let me know."
Chloe frowned, feeling like she had forgotten something really important.
Connor tried to keep up his smile, but inside, he was getting more and more anxious. Chloe had never been this forgetful before. Her condition could lead to blackouts or even amnesia if it got worse. The bigger the deal, the easier it was for her to forget it. Just like when she was five-she remembered everything, except him.
Now it was happening again. Was her condition getting worse?
That night, Connor called Grant.
Grant's voice came through, deep and steady. "She mentioned something important and then forgot about it?"
Connor's voice was full of concern. "Is it the aneurysm pressing on her memory nerves?"
Grant replied calmly, "There's no need to worry. Her condition is stable. It's normal for her to have these episodes. Sometimes the acupuncture technique I use can mess with her memory nerves, causing temporary forgetfulness. It's nothing to panic about."
Hearing this, Connor felt a slight relief wash over him. After all, Chloe had mentioned before that Grant knew some mysterious acupuncture techniques for treating mental disorders. A single needle could sometimes make people forget everything.
Connor had come to fully trust Grant. He could tell that Grant was doing everything he could to help Chloe. Connor had a knack for sensing sincerity, and he could feel Grant's animosity towards him, but also his love for Chloe. Maybe this love wasn't any less than Connor's own, just more restrained.
Connor didn't care about any of that anymore. All that mattered was Chloe and the baby being safe. He'd even bow down to Grant if it meant they'd be okay.
That night, Chloe found herself unusually wide awake. Since she got pregnant, sleepless nights were rare. But tonight, she just couldn't sleep. Her mind kept spinning, trying to figure out what important thing she had forgotten. No matter how hard she tried, she just couldn't remember.
The next morning, Chloe got ready for work, slipping her coat on and sticking her hands in her pockets. Suddenly, she felt a watch. She was surprised to find it was Grant's watch.
First thing when she reached the office, she headed straight to Grant's office. Grant was at his desk, going through some paperwork. When he saw Chloe, he asked, "What's up?"
Chloe placed the watch on Grant's desk. "Grant, why is your watch in my pocket?"
Grant picked up the watch and tinkered with it. "Did you get it fixed?"
Chloe looked puzzled. "Fixed? What are you talking about?"
Grant explained, "You accidentally broke my watch yesterday. You said you'd take
it home to get it fixed and then bring it back."
Chloe still looked confused. "I broke your watch?"noveldrama
Grant furrowed his brow. "You really don't remember?"
Chloe sighed, shaking her head. "I've been forgetting so much lately. Connor said
I had something important to tell him yesterday, but I just forgot."
Chloe looked downcast. "Grant, why am I like this?"
What do you think?
