Chapter 14: Unlucky Days
Chapter 14: Unlucky Days
After Theo had hung up his phone and put it back in his pocket, Patrick spoke up.
"Bro, if you're afraid that Danica will keep on pestering you in the future, why don't you just cut her off from your life? Then, you can immediately ask for Venice's hand in marriage" he lazily suggested.
"As a result, Danica wouldn't dare go near you again.Plus, your mother will stop bothering you anymore about Venice, '' he added which made Theo lose the grip on his heart.Patrick's suggestion was utter nonsense.
All he could hear and comprehend from his friend's suggestion was ridicule and mockery. His advice was a complete sarcasm, and Theo knew to himself that he wouldn't agree to it.He didn't reply a thing.
Instead, he gave Patrick a chilly glare before he turned around and got into the car that was driven by his personal driver.
On the other hand, all that Patrick could do was stare and raise his his hands helplessly at the leaving figure of his friend before leaving the place.
He was worried because he was Theo's friend.
He knew that he wasn't entirely involved in their drama, but it was funny to see how things were obvious from the sidelines.
Danica wasn't in a pleasant mood, either. She felt as if something was blocking her chest.
It wasn't because of her dismay when she noticed that Theo was concerned about her, but her heart clenched at the thought that he was still the same as before. He was still proud and arrogant as ever.
Did he think that she still held love for him when he spoke to her in such a denouncing tone? She could only laugh.
What a joke it was.
Before, her life revolved around him.
Danica didn't think that she'd be able to live without Theo, and that she would be nothing if he was not around. She held on to him passionately even though the man kept on pushing her away.
However, she proved herself wrong when she felt she became truly happy after breaking free from his cages.
Everything seemed fine at the end.
It turned out that anyone free and independent still could thrive.
She was thankful that her job as a playwright didn't require her to visit the company every workday. She was only obliged to attend meetings in different departments or whenever her presence was needed to clarify the script to the staff. Her schedule was flexible because she could work anywhere. She could just sit and complete her work at home anytime without minding anything.
Tomorrow morning came and her schedule was full, but Grandpa Terrence arranged a lunch with her at their family house.
Danica didn't want to be involved with Theo's grandfather after their bitter divorce. She thought that it would be better if she cut her ties completely with the Daltons.
The old man was just making everything difficult for her to move on by constantly reaching out to her while she was abroad.
But as much as she wanted to stop her communication with his grandfather, she had no choice.
Terrence Dalton was the only one in their family who treated her nicely before.
She couldn't just put his name under the people that she completely blacklisted.
Grandpa Terrence's cervical spine wasn't in excellent condition.
As a result, the old man turned on the air conditioner nonstop in summer, so he wouldn't risk standing up and complain about the heat.
Danica thought that the best gift she could give was a man's scarf, so grandfather's condition wouldn't worsen.
She had been strolling around the men's clothing section at the mall's department store when she coincidentally saw Theo's figure in the corner of her eyes.
Danica felt that she should find a fortune teller shortly after their another encounter.
She was really unlucky these past few days because they always pass each other everywhere. Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g
As she saw her ex-husband stand on the other aisle, she couldn't take her eyes off of him.He was dressed in black that made him mature and elegant. He looked like a cold king that stood proudly amongst others, which made her heart beat faster.
Theo also came to shop for a birthday present for his grandfather.
He was out on a business trip and was unable to return for the old man's birthday days ago, so he was out to shop for a gift that was overdue.
He immediately realized why he had come to shop at the mall in the first place.
Danica's compassion for his grandfather was well-known to Theo, and she was always the one who would prepare the gift for his birthday.
Before, he didn't need to worry about that matter because he had his wife.
Now that they're divorced, he was now doing this thing alone.
Grandpa Terrence notified him to stop over at their family house for lunch.
He thought that it would be more sincere to bring his gift over to the old man to show his appreciation.
The old man eventually convinced him to come even though he originally had an appointment that afternoon.
His grandfather told him that even if that appointment was something big, nonetheless, he should still come.
Theo had no other choice but to obey his grandfather's request.
Danica pretended that she did not see Theo at all.
She lowered her head and tried to cover herself so he wouldn't notice her if ever he would take a glance around. She immediately picked up the scarf that she had chosen as her gift and hoped that she could get out of the place as soon as possible.
After taking a stroll around, someone came and stopped on her side. She could tell that it was him, the man that she once loved. She heard him let out a scoff and mocked, "Some women indeed have ugly eyes as always."
Theo didn't know what had gotten inside him when he saw Danica in the store as well.
She was holding a brown men's scarf in her hand and the first thing that he thought was her dinner with the famous young artist yesterday.
Did she shop for a gift for that young man? As soon as she heard his awful remark, Danica felt a rage of fire in her heart.
She couldn't help but curse at the terrible man who was beside her at the moment. She pursed her lips together and avoided replying to his harsh message. She brought her gaze down at the brown-colored plaid scarf on her hand.
It was obviously an article of clothing for an old man's age! Theo attacked her again without knowing anything about the situation like he always did before when they were still married.
Well, Danica knew that he always opposed her choices.
It was not a new thing on her behalf.
A flash of memory played on her mind when she married Theo.
She sincerely offered to help him to take care of his daily clothes because it was her job as his wife.
However, Theo ruthlessly denied the help and told her that he disliked her poor taste in clothing.
Danica was confident about her keen flair for clothes.
She knew that her taste wasn't bad as he thought it was.
In fact, her famous friend, Celestie, asked her before to help pick out the dresses that she would wear for award ceremonies several times already.
The outfits that she chose were all praised by the media because they looked appealing and attractive.
Maybe, Theo just didn't like her.She knew that he was very picky because he didn't trust her at all.
