Chapter 15: See Her Pretending
Chapter 15: See Her Pretending
A few years back when Theo still hated her, Danica would always feel depressed. She felt that all her efforts of reaching out to him failed.
It made her feel hopeless and inferior to him that eventually, she gave up on herself.
But that was all in the past.
Now, she was an independent woman who no longer lived for his approval and no one could dictate her actions, not even Theo. Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
There was no need for her to care about what he would think of her.She could now laugh at how helpless she was before.
Even if she looked useless to him, it didn't matter anymore.
Danica didn't even bother to look at him standing beside him.She just grabbed the scarf and left.
Theo was once again caught off guard by Danica’s actions.
He was left there hanging and didn't know how many times his ex-wife had completely ignored him.He trailed his look at Danica's graceful and slender figure as she walked away.
He sneered and felt his heart twitch. He wanted to see how long that malevolent woman could continue keeping her guard high and pretend that she wasn't affected.
His mind refused to believe that she was once his wife. His heart didn’t accept that she had been begging for his attention for three years before, and he couldn't grasp that she was able to let go of him after just a year.
Half an hour later, Danica finally hailed a taxi and gave the directions to Dalton's family mansion.
She specifically chose a working day so she wouldn't bump into Theo once she went to see the old man.
As his wife before, she had memorized Theo's preferences and schedules.
She even remembered that he usually visited his grandfather on Saturdays or Sundays.
In addition, she knew that Theo was very busy at their company.
He was focused on their business and his lunch was basically settled at the company, too.
"Why don't you stay for lunch, Danica?" the old man warmly asked her.
She couldn't turn down the invitation because she felt there was nothing to worry about if she stayed for a little longer.
She was about to accept it when she heard a sound of an engine from outside.
Danica grimaced because she had an idea of who it was.
A moment later, Theo opened the door and strode in with his long legs and outstanding demeanor.
Her mood immediately changed.
She shifted her gaze back to the old man who then avoided hers and chuckled at what was happening.
Danica immediately sensed that Terrence had deliberately arranged this moment for them to meet each other today.
She felt helpless with the situation and she even wanted to walk out of the house.
‘Why would his grandfather arrange such a cruel setup? Goodness, they had been divorced for a year and the old man still had hope that she would rekindle with his grandson.Of course, no”
Theo's attitude towards her brought more cons to the table. He didn't even love her at all.
Also, she didn't want to repeat the same mistakes again and had her heartbroken by the same man.
She already knew what it felt to be in a marriage without love.
If something like that would happen again, it would not only break her heart but her passion for life as well.
She wouldn't be able to work properly and perform every day tasks.
As for Theo, he was slightly surprised to see Danica again at their house.
A trace of pride stroked his heart and pleased him.
He was on the right track in guessing the possible outcome of their relationship.
Alright.
What did he say earlier? How long could his ex-wife, Danica Sierra, pretend that she didn't need him in her life? After all, his powerful grandfather was the one who forced him to marry her.
And right now the old man was still playing cupid for the two of them.
With that thought in mind, he moved closer to her and asked, "What are you doing here?"
Terrence scowled at him.
"You, shut up!"
He was agitated by his grandson's words that he gritted his teeth and scolded him.
Danica chose to ignore Theo's unsympathetic and insensitive remark towards her because she was used to it already.
She smiled politely at the old man and said, "Well, Grandpa, since I had already given you my gift, I will leave now.Thank you for your care and attention to me for the past year I was away"
She immediately sensed displeasure and disdain in Theo's tone.
She knew that he must be thinking that she was there just to get close with the old man, so she added the last statement to strike his self-esteem purposely.
But Terrence stopped her.
"Danica, you should make your visit her worthy.Let's eat lunch together’ he offered.
She smiled apologetically at him.
"I'm really sorry, Grandpa.I still have many things to do."
Then, she stood and walked away without looking back.
The moment that Danica was no longer visible, Terrence immediately swung his walking stick at Theo, He deserved the hit because he treated his ex-wife wrong today.
It was simply immoral and unforgivable.
"She said that she wanted to come and see me today.I took the opportunity to call you and force you to come.Idiot! I just wanted to arrange a meeting for you two" his grandfather explained.
Theo didn't know what to do because he did not understand why his grandfather would do that? Did he want them to go back with each other? Terrence was enraged at his foolish grandson.
His voice trembled as he shouted, "The poor little girl wanted to cut ties with us forever from the moment you two got divorced. It was me who purposely kept in contact with her for the past year"
Theo felt guilty because of his imprudence and realized that he truly didn't deserve someone pure as Danica.
His grandfather continued shouting.
"I don't know who your other woman is, or whatever her name was.I just wanted the best for you, Theo.My heart knows that Danica's the one for you.Don't even argue about this again. You know how perfect Danica is as your wife!"
Terence scolded him and did not let him speak.
When he finished arguing with Theo, he angrily stabbed him with his walking stick and left.
He didn't want to talk and pay more attention to his rude and arrogant grandson who did nothing but hurt the woman who did everything for him.
