Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 609

Selena's face, which had just stopped blushing, turned bright red all over again. Ava's unfiltered words had left her a bit flustered. While she hesitated, unsure of how to respond to her child's innocent curiosity, little Mateo didn't seem to need an answer. Instead, he leaned over to his mom's belly, made a tiny fist, and gently tapped.

"Sister, are you in there?" he asked with all the earnestness of a child.

Selena couldn't help but feel both amused and a little exasperated. Her son was certainly polite, she thought with a chuckle.

Wanting to tease him a bit, she stroked his little head and asked, "If Mommy really had a baby sister, would you like that?"

Some kids aren't too keen on having siblings, worried they might have to share the love and attention. She wasn't sure how Mateo felt about it. He'd always been a bit introverted and possessive.

To her surprise, Mateo didn't skip a beat, "Yes!" he exclaimed.

His answer caught Selena off guard. She pondered for a moment before asking, "And what if she was like Emily?"

Mateo's cheeks turned a shade pinker. Even though he didn't say anything, a mother always knows-he liked the idea. Selena had a lightbulb moment. Her son's personality was just like Everett's. He wasn't uninterested; he was just shy about it.

She playfully tapped his nose, teasing him further, "I knew you liked Emily. You didn't admit it before, but I've got you now!"

Mateo, feeling bashful, buried himself under the covers, leaving only his little bottom sticking out. He was determined to deny it, thinking if he didn't admit it, maybe it wasn't true!

That evening, Everett headed off to France. Alex came by to pick up his luggage, and everything was so rushed that he didn't get a chance to see her and Mateo before leaving. But even when he wasn't home, his presence lingered strongly.

Every night, he would video call her, chatting about little everyday things. Even when work kept him busy, he'd keep the video running. He'd focus on his work, she'd do her own thing, and just hearing each other's breath was comforting.

Selena wasn't sure if it was because

Everett had mentioned a daughter or because Mateo brought it up, but she found herself dreaming about having a daughter often. In her dreams, there was a chubby little girl with big eyes, long lashes, and a heart-shaped face, smiling and calling out, "Mommy, Mommy." The way she called out made Selena's heart feel full to bursting with joy.

"What are you thinking about?" a deep voice broke through, snapping Selena back to reality. She had just finished her shower and was lying in bed, starting to drift off, almost forgetting the video call was still on. By now, it had become a routine.

On the other side, Everett was sitting

behind his large desk. The stack of documents that had cluttered his space was gone, showing he'd just wrapped things up. He leaned back in his leather chair, looking relaxed, his tie loosened and several Shirt buttons undone. He looked comfortable and undeniably attractive.

Everett had matured a lot in recent years. Even though he was still as cheeky as ever, outwardly, he had the charm of a mature man-every move and look capable of making hearts race. Even after getting married, women still seemed drawn techim, eager to catch his eye.

Selena didn't want to tell him about the dream of a daughter, fearing he'd get too smug. Men who get things too easily often don't value them. It was a flaw that seemed to be in their nature. She hadn't completely forgiven him yet.noveldrama

Selena shook her head, dodging the question.

Everett noticed but didn't push. Instead, he tossed out another question. "Do you know what I'm thinking?"
