Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 856

"Mrs...."

Ava was about to offer some comforting words, but she watched as Selena quickly pulled herself together. "Alright, I get it."

Selena forced down a little breakfast just as Holt showed up.

After some polite chit-chat, Holt got straight to the point.

"Ms. Selena, we've got news from HQ. The driver who hit you the one you've been searching for-has died overseas."

Selena's eyebrows knitted together. "Are we sure about his identity?"

Holt nodded. "Absolutely. He was on the run for a while, but we finally caught him. Just as he was about to be extradited during a layover in Country X, something happened."

The flight from Country X to Newport was only three hours away.

There was no need to guess who might have stopped him at the last checkpoint. Selena couldn't help but let out a bitter smile.

Joy was so reckless because she had Abraham, her brother, as her safety net. She didn't care about human life and would crush anyone in her way.

Thinking about how she'd spent years hiding her true intentions, pretending to be a loving sister while secretly plotting against her, sent shivers down Selena's spine.

She was determined to bring Joy to justice, to let the world see all of her wrongdoings.

Alexa eased her way into the dining room, supporting her back. Seeing Selena, she flashed a gentle smile.

"Selena, feeling any better?"

Selena took a moment to gather herself, then looked up at Alexa with a smile. "Much better, thanks for worrying."

Holt quickly got up to pull out a chair for Alexa. "Careful, ma'am, have a seat."

"Thank you."

Alexa sat across from Selena, and Ava brought over her breakfast and some supplements.

Ava, noticing her slender frame, gently scolded, "Alexa, you need to eat more. It's important for you and the baby to stay healthy. You'll need the strength for delivery and recovery."

Selena chimed in, "Exactly. Don't worry about me. You're pregnant, and you need to take good care of yourself."

Holt added a few encouraging words as well.

Hearing their concern, Alexa's eyes couldn't help but glisten with tears.

Her family was no more, and ever since she married Blaine, she'd been enduring his resentment, with no one to care for her. It had been so long since anyone had shown her such kindness.

She never thought of herself as needing love. The Hodge family might have been tough on outsiders, but they were good to her. She grew up cherished by her father and brother, which is why she once believed the world was only full of goodness.

Despite trying to keep her emotions in check, her voice was still raw when shenoveldrama

spoke again, "Thank you all, I really appreciate it."

Ava, always tender-hearted towards women of her age, treated them like her own daughters. She smiled warmly and said, "No need to thank us. Mrs. Hodge likes you, so you're part of our family here at Moon Bay. I'm happy to look after you

After breakfast, Holt took Selena out to the garden for a bit of sunshine and a stroll.

Selena wandered over to the swing and sat down.

She mulled things over for a while before speaking, "We can't just sit back and let

this happen. We might dodge a bullet once, but not every time."

And it's a lot harder to dodge a sneak attack than an obvious one.

Knowing Joy, she wouldn't just give up; she'd be back with more trouble soon enough.

Holt picked up on what Selena was hinting at and quickly asked, "Miss, got a plan?"

Selena gently rocked the swing, her eyes on the endless green lawn in front of her.

Her lips parted slowly, and she spoke with purpose, "We need to... draw her out."

Holt frowned, "Miss, how do we do that? We don't have any bait..."

"Oh, but we do. The driver is the perfect bait, isn't he?"
