Please Come Back, Honey! Chapter 152
Now that the conversation had come to this, Trevor thought he shouldn’t tolerate it anymore. Thus, he put his fork down and looked soberly at Emma, who was sitting across from him. “Emma, I’m done putting up with it,” he announced gravely. “Huh?” Emma had no idea what he was talking about. “I want to win your heart back,” he said with a sonorous voice, taking Emma aback. He had already admitted to falling in love with her in the warehouse she was kept hostage. But because she was in constant panic from being kidnapped, she couldn’t be bothered to process what he had said. Beyond that, she even gave vent to her negative emotions toward him because the kidnapper was his sister. Then, there was his confession in Kingsford last night. She had thought it was only the liquor talking when he said he wanted to abduct her to the Civil Affairs Bureau. But now, he’s telling me he wants to win my heart back… “I have a boyfriend now,” Emma replied when she came to herself. “So what?” he retorted matter-of-factly, rendering her at a loss for words. At that, he continued irritatedly, “We can even divorce after getting married, so what if you have a boyfriend? You two are going to break up sooner or later anyway!” I’ll make sure I see to it! Trevor cursed. Emma, on the other hand, was speechless with fury. Though her romance with Wesley was only a facade, was it human of Trevor to curse couples like this?! She was originally quite touched when he gave her a cat, but now she didn’t want to see his face. “Hurry up, finish your food, and leave,” she said with displeasure as she shot right up from her seat. “I’m serious,” Trevor restated with a grave countenance as he grabbed her hand, which Emma withdrew and looked at him just as gravely. “Trevor Bateson, I believe you need to properly reconsider your feelings for me.”
The man quirked a brow in response, whereupon Emma explained frankly, “I don’t think you’ve fallen in love with me, but it is only in the state of mind where you think what’s unobtainable is the best. Thus, giving you a false impression.” At the end of the day, she still didn’t believe him! Trevor scraped his tongue against his molars while suppressing his burning rage. “I’m already 32, and you think I still don’t know my heart?!” Emma said nothing, but her eyes had already conveyed multitudes—you really don’t. But just as Trevor wanted to defend himself, Emma spoke up. “There’s also another possibility.” Trevor quirked a brow in response, motioning her to continue. With that, Emma took a step back and looked warily at him. “Maybe you’ve always been disgruntled by the fact that I was the one who asked for the divorce. So now, you want to win me back only to dump me mercilessly later, exacting your revenge on me.” “Have you been writing one too many intrigues lately?!” Trevor was livid with rage. Win you back only to dump you later just to exact my revenge on you?! There are so many hassle-free ways for me to do that. Why would I need to drag myself into this?! “You—” Just as Trevor was about to speak up, Emma’s phone rang in an untimely manner. She answered it to find, to her surprise, Crystal on the other end of the line. “Are you free tomorrow, Emma?” Emma could tell Crystal was super reluctant to make this call, but the woman had to suck it up. “What’s up?” Emma answered plainly. “What’s up?” Crystal sneered. “Do you not know? Mr. Young wants me to apologize to you in person and will only spare me after receiving your forgiveness, or he will denounce my company and me to the industry.” The revelation rendered Emma flabbergasted, for she didn’t expect Wilson to force Crystal to apologize to her in person. Wilson had said her script passed the trial, and Trevor only needed to get the contract ready while he would deal with Crystal. Emma had to admit that Wilson’s move was right up her alley. To an original creator like her, she really needed an apology like this.
Plus, to someone as prideful and vain as Crystal, making her apologize would certainly crush her ego. To make it worse, the person Crystal had to apologize to was someone she had despised for years. No doubt Crystal was beyond livid with rage right now. The notion delighted Emma, and she thought she should give Wilson a proper thank some other time when he had given her something so delightful. Thus, Emma agreed frankly. “I’m free tomorrow. Where do you want to meet?” Be it for public or personal reasons, it was indeed high time Crystal apologized when she had done so many misdeeds to her. Meanwhile, Crystal gnashed her teeth with rage. She couldn’t believe Emma would so shamelessly and frankly accept her apology. She had thought Emma would say ‘no need’ or the sorts, so she would have an excuse to exonerate herself to Wilson. While Crystal was speechless with rage, Trevor, still next to Emma, jotted down the name of a cafe on a piece of paper. With that, Emma proposed, “Since you don’t have anywhere in mind, I’ll pick the place then. Let’s meet at Hour.” As soon as Emma mentioned the name of the cafe, Crystal sneered instantly. “Do you know the class of this cafe, Emma? Can you afford to buy me a coffee there?” Crystal would seize any opportunity to mock Emma, wanting nothing more than to trample Emma beneath her feet with her noble birth and affluent lineage. However, Emma remained neither overbearing nor servile. “Miss Sanders, I’m not sure what I have done to give you the false impression that I can’t even afford to treat you to a cup of coffee.” “Oh, but Hour doesn’t charge by cups of coffee,” Crystal sneered. “Hour doesn’t just sell coffee but also their upscale, stylish environment. They charge by the hour, literally!” Emma naturally knew how Hour worked, for she had gone there a solid few weeks back in the day to learn to make a perfect cup of coffee. If it weren’t for the fact that the cafe was Zachary’s, she wouldn’t have had the privilege to learn from Hour’s baristas. Right then, after listening to Crystal’s voluntary introduction of Hour, Emma said with a plain smile, “I have ‘Imperial Consort Rose’ in my hands, and I’ve also bagged the adaptation rights to Mr. Young’s
book. I think I’ll be rich for quite some time.” Her carefree tone and subtle brag about winning the adaptation rights to Wilson’s book made Crystal froth at the mouth, and she growled through gnashed teeth, “Alright then. We’ll meet tomorrow at ten.” A second before Crystal ended the call, Emma reminded her, “Miss Sanders, if you’re going to apologize with this attitude tomorrow, don’t blame me for telling Mr. Young you did it reluctantly.” However, what replied to Emma was the busy tone—Crystal hung up without hesitation. Trevor had gotten over the fact that Emma galled him by the end of the call, and he asked with a frown, “What does Crystal want from you?” With that, Emma related how Wilson wanted Crystal to apologize to her. “She does owe you an apology,” Trevor commented icily before adding, “I’m sure you know Hour is Zachary’s. If you ever have anything, you can use the place as a rendezvous. The staff will protect you if anything goes wrong.”Content © NôvelDrama.Org.
