Chapter 84
On Saturday morning, Sabrina headed to the Tucker manor. This text is © NôvelDrama/.Org.
Shannon was delighted to see her and warmly welcomed her in for a chat. They even discussed the situation regarding Nelson.
When Shannon called the previous day, she had learned about Sabrina's firm decision to divorce.
She promised to convince Nelson to agree, which stopped Sabrina from using Pamela's incident to create a fuss.
"Sabrina, I'm sorry. You have suffered so much after marrying into our family," Shannon said, looking at Sabrina with sadness.
"My connection with Nelson was shallow, but my connection with you is the opposite." As Sabrina spoke, she instructed the maid to carry the bouquets from her car into the hallway.
"Didn't you want to arrange flowers? Let's go," she said.
When Nelson came downstairs, he saw Sabrina, Shannon, Mindy, and Xyla arranging flowers together.
The long table in the hall was cluttered with various flowers.
The arrangements, combined with the beautiful vases, looked elegant and sophisticated under Sabrina's skillful hands.
"What are you looking at so intently?" Nelson turned to see Noah holding his five-month-old son.
The baby was blowing bubbles and staring at him while cradled in Noah's arms.
Nelson reached out to poke the baby's chubby cheek and replied absentmindedly, "Nothing."
Noah didn't question him and suggested, "Do you want to talk about it?"
The two brothers sat down on the living room sofa. From where Nelson sat, he could still see Sabrina.
Since she wasn't working, she wore a pair of loose blue jeans and a casual red sweater.
The bright color looked neither garish or vulgar on her. Instead, it was bold and dazzling.
"What are you thinking about?" Noah asked with a smile.
Nelson glanced at him. "Why ask when you already know?"
He lowered his head to play with his nephew's tiny hands as he spoke.
"Mom often says that if it weren't for Samson, Sabrina's life would've been carefree, filled with flower arranging and art exhibitions," Noah said.
He continued, "Samson would've ensured his daughter could live without worries even if she didn't work hard. If Sabrina found someone she truly loved, she would have built a wonderful marriage. If not, he would've supported her for life."
Nelson stared at him for a long while. "Did Mom and Dad send you to persuade me?"
"Not really," Noah replied. "It's just that seeing Sabrina like this makes me worry about Xyla's future. I realize my hopes for Xyla are the same as Samson's hopes for Sabrina. If Xyla ended up with a husband like you, I'd have to kill him."
Nelson remained silent and looked down.
Noah continued speaking. "I really admire Sabrina. She graduated from an art university but joined the Tucker Group's least appealing subsidiary because she knew she had to support her family
after losing her father and brother.
"Her father's plan for her future burned away with that fire. She traveled to find the finest suppliers and goods while working in procurement. She had to climb up mountains to negotiate with farmers. I wondered how she managed it since she had no farming experience.
"According to Dad, Sabrina got a new car after working for two years. Within less than two years, she had driven 100 thousand miles, not counting trips outside of the province.
"She was always on the road and inspecting goods. She built the supply chain company from the ground up and checked the product quality one by one."
Nelson didn't know how to respond.
He recalled Sabrina's elegant and wealthy demeanor in Panshaw.
She looked as lovely as ever now. She grinned as she put various flowers in a lovely arrangement while standing in the sunlight.
Unlike in the past, when she plotted against others with no hesitation. She didn't hesitate to plot against him either.
Noah said, "Nelson, Mom, and Dad genuinely like her and feel guilty for her. They want her to be happy. They didn't force you to marry her because of her father; it was also because of her capabilities. They thought you would surely like her if you spent time with her. Who would've thought…"
"I ran away after getting the marriage certificate," Nelson finished.
"Exactly. Mom was right about you." Noah laughed.
It didn't take long before Nelson grew very fond of Sabrina. Perhaps he didn't even realize he began to like her.
"What's right? If she hadn't set me up, we'd have divorced long ago," he muttered. Then, he leaned back and stretched out his long legs, clearly uncomfortable with the topic.
"Are you talking about Sabrina drugging you?" Noah asked.
Nelson didn't reply, but his silence confirmed it.
