Chapter 728
Chapter 728:
Suppressing a flash of jealousy he couldn’t quite explain, Gordon scanned the nearby area on the map.
“Head northwest. There’s an abandoned factory about two clicks away.”
“Got it,” she replied, already moving.
With Verruckt slumped over her shoulder, Allison slipped into the night, her silhouette swallowed by the growing shadows. Soon, she disappeared entirely, leaving the warehouse’s surveillance cameras with nothing but a haunting emptiness.
In the deserted factory, Allison carefully moved Verruckt to a secure corner. Her gaze fell on her backpack, which held a few medical supplies like bandages and antiseptic.
“I never imagined I’d end up using these to patch you up,” she muttered under her breath while kneeling to check the unconscious man.
With Verruckt’s face relaxed and his eyes shut, he looked oddly serene, a stark contrast to his usual cold and combative demeanor. Though his wounds were severe, years of experiments had gifted him with extraordinary healing powers. Even so, the deeper injuries continued to bleed heavily.
Allison swiftly tore open his shirt and wrapped the worst of his wounds with bandages. The job was crude but effective enough to slow the blood flow. A faint, eerie sound suddenly came through her earpiece, catching her attention.
Something strange was stirring in the basement.

“Mr. Lloyd… why is there so much blood?”
“Close the door… don’t say anything to…”
The voices were faint, but Allison immediately recognized them as Amya and Kellan. She froze, her hands stopping mid-motion as a sinking realization hit her — someone was hurt.
“Is Kellan back in the basement?” she asked, her tone sharp with concern.
“He’s back,” Gordon replied with a grim look at the injured man. “But this isn’t the time to chat.”
He waved her off, adding, “Amya and I will take care of it. Don’t worry — he’s fine. It’s just a small injury.”
But the sight of Kellan told a different story. He was slumped in a corner, blood soaking his clothes to the point where their original color was impossible to guess. His head drooped, and it was clear that he was already slipping into unconsciousness. Gordon knew that he shouldn’t twist the truth, but his concern for Allison outweighed everything else.
“You really need to be more careful around Verruckt,” he said. His tone was steady, but the cold glint in his eyes spoke volumes.
Allison picked up on the unease in his voice, sensing that Kellan’s situation might be worse than Gordon admitted. Still, with Verruckt lying there and looking like he could regain consciousness at any second, she made a snap decision.
