Secrets Of The Neglected Wife

Chapter 729

Chapter 729:

“Look after him. I’ll deal with everything else when I’m back,” she said firmly.

She cut off the communication device without waiting for a reply.

Verruckt’s keen instincts were a problem, and she had no way of knowing if he’d already noticed something was wrong. Either way, she couldn’t waste time — she needed him awake now. The clock was ticking. The moment the police uncovered the mafia’s trail, the lab would connect the dots, and this factory wouldn’t stay hidden for long.

Without a second thought, she kicked Verruckt’s leg sharply, ensuring that the pain would jolt him awake.

“Ugh,” Verruckt groaned as the sharp pain jolted him awake. His eyes fluttered open, and the first thing he noticed was Allison’s face. She looked both worried and scared. Her hair was a bit messy, with loose strands framing her temples. Her hands were smeared with blood, and her teary eyes glimmered as though she’d just experienced a genuine fright.

“Mr. Shaw, you’re finally awake,” Allison said, her voice laced with concern as she pressed her fingers against one of his wounds.

As his senses returned, Verruckt grimaced. His body ached like he’d been run over by a train.

“What are you doing here?” he rasped, his voice dry and rough.

Allison didn’t miss a beat. She recited the excuse she’d rehearsed earlier.

“Before heading home, I stopped by the pharmacy,” she began, her tone shaking. “Then, on my way, I wandered into a bad neighborhood. I got lost… and a one-eyed man kidnapped me and dragged me here.”

She wiped at her eyes, forcing tears to roll down, her voice breaking as though she were truly distressed.noveldrama

“They dragged me to a warehouse,” Allison continued, her voice trembling. “Right when they were about to do something, another group barged in and took them down. While I was trying to get away, I spotted you. I was scared they might come back, so I brought you here to hide.”

Her eyes darted around nervously as if she’d just realized something unsettling.

“I don’t even know where we are,” she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper.

Verruckt frowned and glanced around. The air carried a stale, metallic scent, and the crumbling walls gave it away — this was clearly an old, abandoned factory.

Although the setting was bleak, with every corner exuding despair, its isolation offered a peculiar sense of safety amid the chaos.

Verruckt glanced at the clumsily bandaged wounds crisscrossing his body, then turned his gaze toward Allison, his expression a blend of curiosity and disbelief.

“Did you do all this bandaging?”

He had already pieced together that tonight was a well-laid trap orchestrated by Immortality Pharmaceuticals, their arsenal even extending to rare chemical weapons. What he hadn’t anticipated, however, was being saved by this seemingly frail woman.
