Chapter 1408
The next second, Devon's fingers twitched, and he ended the call with a press.
"Who was that?" David hadn't seen Devon's action and simply asked.
Devon lifted his phone into the air briefly, "Probably a scam call."
"Then it's not worth worrying about." David didn't give it much thought.
"Yeah, I've hung up already." Devon placed his phone back down as if nothing had happened.
David nodded, his mind drifting back to the association, then he turned to Devon, "By the way, Devon, what's been happening in the association lately?"
Devon, relieved that his phone didn't ring again, went to pour a glass of water for David before replying, "Master, you should be focusing on your recovery right now, no need to stress over these matters."
David simply smiled and shook his head, "After taking Mirabella's medicine, my health has almost fully recovered. I plan to visit the association tomorrow."
"Why the sudden visit?" Devon's heart tightened again.
Mirabella had warned that any shock could worsen his teacher's health, especially if he found out about the re-election for the president position happening in the next few days, it could lead to trouble.
"Just some matters to attend to." David's gaze sharpened, aware that his time was limited and the association must not fall into Presley's hands.noveldrama
Devon, not good at lying, hesitated before saying, "You could just call the other deputy presidents to handle it. Why go in person?"
It was then David noticed Devon's unusual behavior and asked, "Is there something you're hiding from me?"
Devon immediately shook his head, "No, what could I possibly hide from you?"
Understanding his apprentice well, David quickly stood up from his chair and picked up his phone.
As Devon was about to speak, David had already dialed his assistant's number.
The call connected in seconds.
"President?" Grant answered, his voice tinged with surprise.
David hummed in acknowledgment and went straight to the point, "What's been happening in the association lately?"
Holding the phone, Grant hesitated.

After much deliberation, Grant didn't dare hide it and revealed everything about the election.

Rather than waiting for Presley's scheme to succeed, it was better to think of how to resolve the current situation.
David's expression remained unchanged as he listened to Grant, but he was struggling to suppress his surging emotions. After acknowledging, he ended the
call.
Devon, noticing David's stillness after the call, quickly went over to support him, "Master, are you alright?"
David merely lifted his hand, "It's a big deal that Presley wants to hold a re- election for the president. You shouldn't have kept it from me."
Helping David to the sofa, Devon could only say, "What does the position of president matter? None of that is as important as your health, Master."
David sighed softly, "Some things are a matter of duty."
At that moment, Devon didn't know what to say and paused before adding Presley is determined to win the presidency, even if you, Master, wanted to intervene, it would be difficult."
What do you think?
