Chapter 1411
Dane was surprised to hear Presley so sure that no one could heal James's condition. After a pause, he didn't pry further, "If that's the case, then it's only a matter of time before Mirabella hands over the prescription."
Presley hummed in agreement, knowing that securing the position of the president was the most important thing at the moment. Once he became the president, getting the prescription would not be too late.
Just then, the vibration of his phone in his pocket broke Presley's train of thought.
He took it out and glanced at the screen, his gaze slightly hardening. He didn't answer right away but looked up at Dane.
Seeing this, Dane quickly said, "I'll leave you to it then," and walked out of the office, gently closing the door behind him.
Presley shifted his gaze back and answered the call.

Meanwhile, Devon had arrived at the cafe where he was meeting Wyatt. Just as he sat down in the booth, Wyatt arrived.
"Devon." Wyatt nodded politely at Devon and, sitting down, placed the document bag he brought on the table.
Devon sat somewhat stiffly, "Ms. Mirabella said you could help me."
"Yes." Noticing Devon's tension, Wyatt explained, "There's no need to be nervous. David and our James are well acquainted. Now that he's in trouble, the Shepherd family certainly won't sit idly by."
Hearing about the Shepherd family made Devon immediately understand Wyatt's background. After a moment of thought, he asked, "Is James's health alright?"
Wyatt smiled and shook his head, "Don't worry, it's nothing serious."
Ms. Mirabella had asked him to contact this person, which meant he could be trusted. Telling the truth was not a problem.
Devon, not foolish, sensed something from Wyatt's words. He began to suspect that the Shepherd family member might not have had a recurrence of his mysterious ailment after all.
Though he thought this, Devon didn't feel it was his place to ask directly and simply said, "I'm glad to hear it's nothing serious."noveldrama
Wyatt nodded and didn't waste any more words. He took out the documents he had brought and handed them to Devon, stating plainly, "Presley can't become the president."
Devon was momentarily stunned, then took the documents. As he started to read the first page, his expression changed, and his grip on the papers tightened involuntarily, "Presley has..."
"The charge of illegal human detention alone is enough to trouble him, not to mention the countless lives lost due to drug experiments." Wyatt had been somewhat shocked himself when he received this unknown package of information that morning. Content bétongs to
Devon's face darkened notably. He dared not continue reading, having thought Presley was at most an ambitious individual, never imagining he was involved in such dark dealings.
For years, no one had discovered this.
Devon's mind was in turmoil. If this information became public, what would
become of the pharmaceutical association's standing?
"Mr. Croft, this information..." Devon started to say something, but Wyatt, as if he already knew, cut him off.
"This won't get out. The implications are far-reaching, and there are many complicated aspects that need to be thoroughly investigated," Wyatt assured.
Hearing this, Devon breathed a sigh of relief.
He didn't want the association's century-old foundation to be ruined because of Presley.
After a brief discussion of plans and arrangements, Wyatt left. He had to report back.

It wasn't long before Wyatt returned to the residence where James was staying.
Upon entering, he found Mirabella had just finished administering acupuncture to James, who was listlessly nestled on the couch.
What do you think?
