The Double or more Life of the Fake Heiress (Mirabella)

Chapter 1418

Devon heard the deputy chairman say that, and he let out a cold laugh, "If you say my mentor can't oppose it, what about someone else?"noveldrama

The deputy chairman was taken aback, not quite understanding Devon's point. He wasn't the only one; everyone else in the room felt the same confusion.

At that moment, there was a commotion at the entrance of the conference hall, and several officers in police uniforms strode in. "Who is Presley?"

Seeing the officers come in looking for Presley, everyone exchanged puzzled glances before turning their attention back to Presley.

Presley stood in front of the conference table, his hands constantly on the edge. His expression changed slightly, but he quickly regained his composure and responded, "I am. May I ask what matter brings you here?"

The lead officer walked up to Presley, first showing his badge, then said, "You are suspected of being involved in multiple missing persons cases. Please come with us."

At those words, everyone in the room looked at Presley with inquiry, shock, and disbelief.

Sensing the unusual gazes from all directions, Presley's grip tightened slightly, but he maintained a humble smile without breaking, "Officer, could there be some mistake? As a law-abiding citizen, how could I be involved in missing persons cases?"

Seeing how calm Presley was, the lead officer couldn't help but sneer internally. If it wasn't for the evidence they already had, he might have believed Presley was innocent.

"Whether there's a mistake, Mr. Presley knows best," the officer said calmly.

Then he signaled to his colleagues, and immediately two other officers stepped forward, positioning themselves on either side of Presley as if to prevent him from escaping.

Presley saw this, and the smile on his face vanished instantly. After all, he was the president of the Pharmacists' Association and knew top people in the police department. These officers were showing him no respect.

The lead officer, seeing Presley still standing there, extended his hand, his voice cold and official, "Please."

"Why should I go with you over

baseless accusations?" Presley said emotionlessly, then turned to his assistant standing not far away, "Contact my lawyer now and have him handle this."

The assistant snapped back to reality, responded affirmatively, and quickly took out his phone to call the lawyer.

Presley then turned his gaze back to the lead officer, "Without showing any evidence, I'm afraid I cannot cooperate with your work. My fawyer will be here soon; you can discuss with him."

Devon saw Presley not panicking at all at this moment, even calling for his lawyer, and couldn't help feeling a bit anxious. He turned back to look at Wyatt.

Wyatt just shook his head, signaling him to stay calm.

Seeing this, Devon turned his gaze back, though worry still lingered in his eyes.

Presley had never exposed any of the illegal things he'd done over the years, which meant the people backing him were not simple. If they couldn't take him down in the end... that would be troublesome

After speaking to the officers, Presley simply sat back down, as if he truly was innocent, showing no fear of resisting the officers.

The lead officer, as if expecting Presley to react this way, turned to his colleague,

"Call to confirm the situation with the Criminal Investigation Team."

"Okay," the colleague took out his phone to call.

Seeing this, Presley suddenly had a bad premonition.
